Can you get fronts that match the rears, i.e. quarter but wrap-around?
The rears look spot on, but the front looks a little short. If you understand me?

A company in Norfolk CASCU had glassfibre reproductions of the originals avaialable and the site still appears up and £60 for a set. www.cascu.co.uk/X19.htm price may be a bit outdated as that seems cheap. Facebook page is more up to date. |

Yes I have used those before, but not original and show only really - price is nearer 100 . Wanted something more substantial and cheaper too!

 New badges, decals. Engine tidied up and idle set and timing checked. Waiting on more replacement chrome and an earlier steering wheel which has a greater dish to it, to allow more room for my long legs. |

Just an update - fitted repro 1300 front spoiler from cascu (very helpful people BTW - highly recommended) and tidied up the front grille and fitted chrome windscreen surround plus other small jobs. Have sourced a used CSC manifold and system- needs a bit of work before fitting, but usable. MOT passed - with no advisories (and compliments from the tester!)    |

Looks so much better with the chrome windscreen surround!
Sweet car. Always been on my list to get one - one day.
Genuine question - Looking at the engine lid I always thought it was raised up from the bootlid height because of the height of the engine...
Seeing it open in your pics makes it seem like this isn't the case as the highest point (air filter) on the engine doesn't seem to foul the top of the compartment.
Wondering if you have any insights as to why Fiat did it that way when it could've been a lot prettier with a flush engine-bay cover.

The air filter is higher than the rear height , but not by much. The earlier 1300 rear hatch set up is prettier I agree.
Still cheap by similar era cars, but prices drifting up.

The prototipo looks very cool and very 1970s. There isn't much power but that's not what the car is/was about. Snicking it through sharp bends brings a smile to your face...!

+! with removing door trim / adding the ladder stripes. I always liked the quarter front bumpers with over-riders like on this green one. Love the stripey seat trim (and green paint) too.  |

I like the cleaner look of the de-cladded car too....cleans up the side profile...great job, the car is really looking better for your efforts!

Yes looked very hard at the ladder stripes idea. Unhappily the door trims are attached through the door (lots of holes!), so unless I was very lucky and the stripe coincided with the hole, it would not work.
A similar option is a solid stripe which I am looking doing next.

Update - found a second hand CSC 4-1 exhaust manifold and box. Needed some fettling to fit properly. PO had cut the U pipe to remove the exhaust so I had to reweld that - but now done and sounds great.    Next jobs - period looking alloys, remove side trims, period looking interior trim... |

Always had a bit of a soft spot for the x1/9, came very close to buying one but got messed about by the seller.
Looks like you've got a good base to start with, and liking all you've done so far, looking forward ot seeing the next steps!

cheers- got a bit lucky with the car. Bought via the club for not a lot really. Rust is minimal and where it does exist - its not structural or visible. Still at the cheap end of classics - but they are fun to drive. Very chuckable (with care!)
