epoxy resin is the way forward,i spend about 300 quid on proper floor paint when we moved into my unit. looked great for about 4 months then slowly its started to look like it does now 2 years on, curse word. my new garage is being built as I type this the concrete goes in next week and I will be using the resin/epoxy covering. mate has it on his garage which he has dozesn of cars a week through and has lasted 5 or 6 years before starting to look a bit tatty. so for domestic use it will last me years

Make yer minds up guys, I've just ordered some hardener and dustproofer! To be honest I don't really care what colour the floor is so I might leave it "Au naturale". I just want to get into my new garage asap.

I just want to get into my new garage asap. If you do want that you can just seal the concrete. Thing is, if you use it just bare - oils and curse word will leach in to it - then you're in to a world of pain de-greasing and grinding if you ever decide "oh, I'd like an epoxy floor now". There is nothing wrong with just having a concrete unsealed, non painted floor - it might be a little dusty depending on your finish and if the concrete cured properly. Good luck!

I have some 10ft by 4ft lengths of rubber matting that I will run down the middle to catch drips, I own a Ford, they like to mark their turf like an old tom cat! I would have used this whatever I put down/painted on the floor.

Carpet style flooring is ok if all you do is park your car there, but not really practical if you work on it as well. Depending on the colour, you might not notice any car fluid leaks either. The floor on my garage was poorly laid concrete. I sealed it using pva/water and then used self-leveling compound to give a smooth surface, then painted with warehouse/garage floor paint. So far it has lasted 3-4 years and is easy to clean. Rubber or plastic tiles would be the next solution for me but they cost a fair bit.
