Had the LS 400 since July this year & quite enjoying the ride to be fair. However.........................despite the p/o fitting a few VIP trimmings, I don't think its the style for me and tbh, to do vip properly its a big buck situation! So, I'm thinking about making a few mods that I fancy and the first one is to make the car sound a bit more "muscley" if there is such a word. It has a year old custom system already on with no rear boxes but leaning towards a pair of those pre silencer exhaust valve jobbies to complete "my sound" I have been googling locally and did'nt see any at the NEC yesterday so who has found, fitted and tried these little things? Example of chinese version www.wish.com/m/c/59cb4c56d8af654e22e05e36

Haven't used one but I am very interested in getting some so will follow this.
I've seen some on eBay going for over a grand which seems obscene for what you are actually getting.

These are on porsches, known as psm. It bypasses most of the silencer, has a push button on the dash.

Many years ago I had a '92 plate E36 328i, it had factory standard twin tailpipes. 1 pipe had a vaccume operated butterfly, the other was always open. (1 open = improved low down torque, both open = flat out power )

I've struggled to find many non-chinese models, not that there's necessarily anything wrong with the Chinese ones, but it surprises me that there's not more options.

Quite a few production cars have electrically driven valves in the exhaust front pipes for ECU controlled forced EGR. I'll bet with a bit of investigation theres a low cost scrapyard solution to sourcing these, a common model thats in plenty of yards where the valves could be chopped out and something home made to control them.

I remember from a while back Isuzu Troopers had these these valves, Although I can’t remember if they were electric or vacuum operated, might be worth a look.
