awesome skills and great patience , just finished an Imp for my son and reading and watching this thread has given so much encouragement that when his departs on Monday for the USA and I start on daughters Imp i can do better before I progress to my Avenger . I noticed your don't finish the welds so they are invisible I'm guessing to reduce heat from the action of grinding/linishing? will you lead load or modern filler ? Some like the welds fully flushed off - however by the time you have done this the chances of both the weld bead and the panels either side of the bead will be fairly weak due to being thinned back so much - what you can see in my weld is the one edge that sits in the joggled rebate - there is nothing to be gained by dressing back it with the grinder - I use a combination of lead loading and a polyester skimming filler for the profile work

That was a lovely bit of work! How did you find the expressed sections of arch etc? They are not too bad sort out of 6 or 7 out of 10 but for the price that ExPressed charge they should be perfect !

I sent Sid to have look at the spring mounting on the nearside - a lot easier for him to get in under there than me Then he came back and reported his findings to me Apparently he does not think that it is has bad has the offside - however it would appear that it has had some welding done at some stage in it's life around that area

Wish I could teach my cat to do that. The only talent ours has is opening doors. Which is highly inconvenient.

Sid is very talented for a rescue cat, can open doors, tell the time, always knows where to find me regardless of where I am around the property but his greatest skill is plaguing the hell out of you until you get out of bed and give him his breakfast

Wow - What an excellent report of a meticulous restoration! I stumbled onto this thread from a link at Garage Journal & just read the whole story (over 3 days, on & off) (have yet to start on your Jowett Bradford Utility one....) Thank you for: 1. saving these old vehicles 2. Documenting your journey Inspirational!

Sherman from Kesgrave is very good at establishing comfy seats. However, his wiring knowledge is shocking, other than "I play with this" Cracking work by the way!

OMG, that rear door gap corrrection is awesome. I couldn't work out how you were going to address the uneven gap and then you make it look like a walk in the park.

Time for a radical ... yet simple procedure - cut down the edge with a 1mm slitting disc on the grinder - open up the gap to required width then close it by gently tapping the aperture edge towards it - weld up & clean up Inspirational and educational as always - I do my own bodywork (when needed for MOTs etc) and much appreciate the time you spend sharing your tips Watching you bring very tired motors back to their former glory never gets old either

Yes and I cant go into any detail just now - all will become apparent in a couple of weeks time has to why I am holding back on updating the thread - No I am not planning it's all done doesn't it look great big reveal either - it is far more complex than that and no myself and Pete have not fallen out or lost faith in the project either - Sorry but I can't go into detail at this point - so just hang on in there and I will update you when I can - Chris

Wish I could - but certain large deposits of red tape are preventing me from doing so - nothing of mine or Pete's doing either - sorry this is dragging on - I hope to have some conclusion on the issues (that I can't go into currently) before the end of the year - Chris
