Reason for the shiny comment is as follows: Couple of years back a mate of mine bought a SWB Frontera for £quite alot. So he picks it up Friday afternoon, and we spend the whole of friday night in the boozer egging him on to do some serious off-roading. Next morning we set off for the muddy stuff. Within about an hour, the underside was scraped to curse word and the paintwork was fecked. The look on his face afterwards! ;D I paid £5k for mine about 3/4 years ago... and it was a nice proper shiney metallic blue 3 door.... that the previous owner had removed all the poxy stupid decals off of I'd had it about a day when I decided to drive along the verge for a laff (it was just as Foot and Mouth kicked in!) and hit a severed dip and broke the front valance off... so then I cut the bumper end caps down and did without (planned to do this anyway)... first time out on Salisbury plain, drove down a lane that was hideously overgrown, and I went through some 'foliage' and it created a 'car wash' effect (like the big brushes at the side) and decorated my car with millions of 'go faster' stripes.... I was quite upset for a while.... since then, I've driven through hedges, ditches and even a barbed wire fence..... ;D

Pedestrians who cross the road dangerously, literally centimeters from a crossing. They ususally have children with them.
Pedestrians who cross at the crossing while the traffic lights are still green but have pressed the button anyway so i am stopped waiting for nobody to cross!
This country is full of thick monosolabic morons who lollop across the road as if traffic didn't exist. My mum once told me that in France if you cross on a red man you get shot by the Gendarmerie!! If only that were true!

people who think that because they have a newer car than me it makes them somehow better Yeah, know what you're saying! Just because you've been out and spent £30K on a new car doesn't mean you got more right to the road than me! Strange though, when theres a gap in the road only one car can fit through and I'm not slowing down for no man, they seem to think they're a bit less important and let me through ;D

That *rse in the jaguar that got upset with me on the Thames Road the other day. Two lanes narrow to one, he was to my right, I looked across to see his intention, he's on the phone, so I just keep going. The twosser throws his hands in the air as if I did something wrong.
Buses. Micras. Oi old lady! Look what you're doing. Children that step off the kerb infront of you knowing full well you're gonna stop. I might not. People who think my Volvo is slow. Tailgaters. People who can't find their handbrakes in queues. Cheap wood.

mine are (in no particular order) school kids who think it 'cool' to cross very slowly, they soon speed up when i aim at them. modern car manafacturers who build in faults, like when did you last see a volvo driver use his mirrors,or a bmw driver indicate or even a new merc speeding? (old cars are exempt from this) people who by mpv's and only take two passangers at a time.buy a small car if thats the case. in general people who buy cars and don't use them correctly i.e. clean 4x4's ,slow ferraris and porsches, empty mpv's. old people in general undesicive people. people who don't like the new mini yet probably have never driven one(yes i've got one and it's streets ahead of my last daily driver a vw polo) gary boy in his land speed record fiesta/nova/saxo who can't see where he's going coz the screens vibrating so much because of the resonance from the stereo and 2 ton of fibreglass spoliers (aptly named really ,they spoil the look the top speed and the acceleration) that should do for now

Oh yeah. Those bloody Baby on board signs What are they trying to say! Do they want me to drive differently or is it an excuse for there bad driving? Or maybe they have a baby nailed to a board in the car! At Vanfest earlier this year I saw one of those 'Baby on Board' style stick on things but said something to the effect of 'Adult only on board - feel free to crash into me' ;D I Love this thread - I agree with most (if not all) of the comments posted here. One of the things I hate is when a couple have their first child, & they feel the need to get an MPV - like theres not enough room for two adults and a baby in an ordinary family saloon car

oh yeah and why do mothers need a 4x4 to take puglsey to school? is it in case they need to park on the verge or is it that the kid weighs so much due to lack of exercise?i had a road rage moment with one of these women(screaming bloody banshee morelike) after she parked on my drive outside my house and i asked her to move."its my parking space,i always park here "so i blocked her in and left her to stew for an hour. oh and i hate smart cars.whats the point?have you ever seen one on a motorway, they look like they're about to fall over!i drove one 10yards and 10 yards back and gave the keys back to the dealer and politly informed the wife that there was no way she was having one.

Most of what i would put would just be duplicated from above
most of my 'other' hates come from riding my bike.
I hate people who cant read the road, or situations around them. And no matter what they say, it IS usually women!
and i hate f**king bus lanes. I'm still in an outrage at the £100 fine i got earlier on in the year on my bike. I don't understand how its ok for taxis and push bikes to use bus lanes (both of which slow up buses) but u cant on a motorbike (which doesnt hold up a bus) and then ... £100!!! its a joke. People get fined so much less for real crimes!

I havent really got a problem with MPVs and 4x4s. I know the owners wont use the cars to there potential but drivers of sports cars don't either.
We have a Zafira which is being traded for a Cherokee so I'm a bit biased.

My Mum used to be a registered childminder... and she used my Disco a few times on the 'school run' (cos it's a seven seater)... She regularly took it caked in mud.... and parked it next to all the lovely clean 4x4's that were there..... Have to agree with the Smart car comment too.... HIDEOUS little cars... there used to be a Smart shop at the SnowDome in MK... I wanted to push all the cars over! h aha! I've also always quite liked the idea of having a Smart Tug o' War between me and my bro-in-law... two ropes, two landies... one smart.... ;D

We have a Zafira which is being traded for a Cherokee so I'm a bit biased. most 4x4's owners do use the cars to their maximum potential.... There aren't actually that many that can cut it offroad.... BMW X5 - utter splurge off road... and so is the Mercedes ML.... now the Merc 'G' class / G Wagen... that's a different matter....

We took a Smart out for a test drive from aformentioned MK Smart dealership - there really quite good fun to drive in a cheeky darty sort of way, we even got the back end to step out whilst fooling around in an empty carpark ;D I think they're a great solution to city motoring & look different - which is something people moan about when discussing modern cars - 'they all look the same these days' It would feel like you had brought a domestic appliance though, rather than a car ;D

I just think about things like what would happen if I ran into the back of a smart in my discovery.... they can be as strong as the like, but I'll still end up with my bumper resting on the drivers/passengers spine..... no substitute for PROPER crumple zones..... One of my favourite statisitics is that Euro NCAP can't categorise the LR Defender.... cos they drove it at their deformable block thing, and it went straight through it! (not sure exactly how true it is... but I can believe it!) I
