The last part of the steering to look at is the steering box. Often overlooked as a service item in the usa apparently. This is a bottom filler so the trick is to turn the steering wheel fully to right then pump in some moly/lithium chassis grease, then micro adjust the adjuster bolt. Grease cartridges are on....order Chased through the threads and screwwed in the eyebolts for the shelby lapbelts Removed the fan and spacer as i found an unopened tin of hammerite smooth blue paint in the garage. hammerite paint is awful stuff but it looks the idea shade of ford blue. Will paint up the fan ready to go back in with the new alloy rad. Rummaged through the scrap bucket and found this old roofrack bracket which seemed an ideal fit for placing the 3 way line splitter for the front brake lines. Bolted in using an existing hole in the frame brace.

I can remember steering boxes being a maintenance item...but not for a long time!....They used to be serviceable like this one and at least you had a fighting chance of keeping them in working order.

Is there a danger of the pipe rattling in the hole and getting damaged?

Is there a danger of the pipe rattling in the hole and getting damaged? Probably, but haven't fitted the rubber cover yet.

I think you will find peace of mind by replacing the brake components and getting everything buttoned up in that regard!....its rare that shoes become detached like that...perhaps from sitting or age or chemicals.....

Today I got the windscreen squirter rigged up. This falcons didn't come with them as standard, an option apparently. The cheap way would be buying a complete electric kit for about a tenner delivered. But they look cheap and modern. I also wanted to avoid extra wiring and electrics, so plumped for an old school british manual set up a la mg, triumph, mini etc. Used a new manual dash pump fitted to a lucas toggle switch facia from an old mini ( I think). Ordered an mg bottle and holder and some new 4mm tubing. The squirters are 64-65 mustang new from the states but not a perfect fit. It functions good enough for the UK MoT but still need a one way inline valve to keep the fluid at the jets.

Whilst rooting under the dash, this dropped down. Appears to left over from the cb radio installation which got removed. I'll unpick it and tidy the wiring.

Nice. That shifter is one of the best looking I’ve seen. So glad you didn’t end up with the typical yank tat that looks like the illegitimate offspring of a revolver and a claw hammer.

so, how do you know what gear you are in. is there an indicator on the dash ? I guess when you mash the pedal to the metal you're either rewarded by the sound of bouncing valves or you rocket off in one direction or another 😊 +1 on the shifter though, it looks spot on.

so, how do you know what gear you are in. is there an indicator on the dash ? You can buy an indicator from Lokar to work with these I believe. However, as long as the stops are in the right place it's generally simple to know where you are. My Stag had no stops in place for the shifter.

its only a 3 speed auto, so not much to do really. push the button, pull the stick back and it locks into drive. for hard launching you push the button again and pull back into first, then shift it like a manual to go up the gears.

that shifter looks great! I like the way you are adding upgrades that, A, might have been an option back then, and B will reward you with a more pleasant ride when you add them all together. isnt it nice when things just......work. JP
