my heart sank when I saw the broken plug!....wow...you did a great job getting that thing out of there....brilliant!
I just changed plugs in my wagon after (too long) they were a bit past their prime and the back two did not come out as easily as I would have liked....made for a few nervous moments...but nothing at all like yours....
the seats do really look nice too!

a bit of heat is always a good thing for stuck plugs. if you can run the engine it makes a huge difference when trying to get a stuck plug out. great that it went well for you!

Other cars always tempt us! I'd keep that old coil despite it looking poorly; I've had issues with new coils for cars, often causing more problems than you started out with! Bosch/BERU Blue coils are still relatively safe choices, but even older coils for those are seen to be OK now .

I thought that may have been a red herring above . Ah well. The seat runners are looking a little different to last Sunday!

New door shell seals and front/rear screen seals. Called my insurer and waiting for glass people to sort out a new windscreen.

Drivers side door seal. Comes off easy but the reminants are proving frustrating. Impervious to thinners, acetone, sealant softner amd brakefluid. Resorted to a heat gun and old bank card to scrape it off #f+¢ker .

Latest jobs have been to resolve a bouncing digital rev counter. the problem has been the spikes from the coil/HT leads being detected by the rev counter wire connected to the coil. First up was to add some rubber tubing to the wire...which made no difference. next up was to add a resistor to the wire to dampen the spikes. This helped a great deal but there still was still some minor gauge fluctuation. Then i happened to put my finger near the top of the coil and felt the tingle. Added some rubber boots to the coil connectors and added some heat shrink to the king lead cap. Clearly the king lead is breaking down due to age and heat, so a new set to be ordered. Then the carb started to puke fuel out the top vents which suggested a sticking/overfilling float bowl. A new needle valve and seat strangely didn't help so added a little more tension to the float spring and bent the float arm up slightly. Will see how it fairs. Just waiting for glass company to sort out the new windscreen.

You are probably right to have to slightly bend the float arm, unless you have a measurement for how high its supposed to be sitting it might well have always been wrong and overfillinng

I think it was the float which was sticking/wedging on the bottom of the float chamber, not helped by some sediment and low spring tension. Hoping some more tension in the spring and not allowing the float to fall as far down will sort it. Its only just started doing it.

oddly enough, I just went through the carb thing on my weed eater. it needed a "reprofiling" of the armature and a tighter return spring. I had a few spares and eventually got it to where I needed it. works great now. I think taking it apart and giving things a good clean helped too....could have even been some stickiness in the works.....It sits for long periods, which, with fuel being the way it is today, is not good.....
looking good, love the seat!

Hmmmmm.....falcon.....is.....up......for.....sale should anybody be seriously interested. I'm having a significant herd thinning exercise aiming to sell 3 cars with the falcon being first. This is combination of possible house move rumbling in the distance, my low mile commute now I'm working for Jaguar and that i want to get going on the long term model T speedster build and an austin big 7 recommision (build thread forthcoming) The low mile commute and shuffling the fleet means i can get a "modern classic" for daily duties whilst swmbo has my 2yo renaultsport. ChasR of this parish is trying to convince me of the merits of the BMW e46 but porsche 996's are calling. PM me should an interesting, rare, practical sized yank 5L take your fancy.
