Boring Tax questionMiataMark

I need to tax the MX5, normally I'd just bung 6 months on it and then SORN over winter, but with the option of monthly direct debits can I pay monthly and at any time put it on SORN and the payments stop? It's likely that I'll SORN it again in 4 months time. - I have read the DVLA website and think this is OK but wondered if anybody had done it.
- I know it'll cost me more (5%) but at the moment it's the best option.
Thanks, Mark

Your understanding is correct, I do exactly the same. I taxed my van for a month earlier this year, they took 2 months payments, but refunded one with no input required from me.

Yep or you can pay for a year and they refund what you don't use. You only get the full months back still tho.
