it's no concours queen but a representative example of the model with a used patina - far from perfect in presentation but not scruffy either which is just has well because that is exactly how I like it ! maintained, not restored ! re: premium maybe its one of the other definitions for that noun. like the surcharge one, rather than superior quality one p.s had any direct and intense UV on them ? Exactly - I will have do something eventually with the panels before they go too far though - they are ok at present but I am well aware that the tin worm has a nibble here & there Has for the tyre vs UV - no is the answer - so just curse word tyres then

The osf door handle had snapped on the lever -they are made from mazak - the club spares department sent me a second hand one - we are currently working on a source of new ones (virtually identical to some of the Healey range but need some small modifications) The return spring had broken on the replacement so I managed to salvage the one from the broken one and swap it over Not pretty but effective enough for now The door bearings & pins on the hinge brackets were worn / incorrect With new sets sourced the doors were removed / refitted with the new pin & bearing sets on both sides Next were the engine mountings - one side had started to depart company with the mounting plate and the other side was quite well perished - new ones supplied by the club were fitted Torque reaction buffers were also replaced on the mountings whilst I was at it The lower front suspension arm bump stops were replaced - the rubber on one side had departed and on the offside someone had bodged something together and stuck it on Oil change next - the fibre washer on the sump plug was falling apart so that was replaced with a copper washer Filter changes can be messy - the cartridge housing sits horizontally over the top of the crankcase valley - but there is a valve that releases the oil held in the filter housing back to the sump when wound out - still a messy job to do though Front wheels collected from the tyre fitter - and now back on the car - tyre pressures & wheel nut torque checked all round Gave the all the grease nipples a few pumps before putting the car back on the ground - but also had a good check over that everything was tightened up and in order on the underside Made a start on getting the paint cleaned up - so a quickish machine polish with compound for a start Nearly got most of the offside done but will want to go back in over the top of this with a finer polish tomorrow

Will the brakes be ok this year? Road test in the morning - but everything checked out ok in the workshop and it's done about 400 miles on the new master cylinder without issue since last year - so it should be fine

Had to sort the wipers which were perished but the arms were next to useless too I invested in a new set but classic / vintage wipers are far from cheap - £75 for the two arms & blades Fitted and checked but I think my wiper motor is on its last legs - so that's something I shall have to source Finished the polishing and touched in minor bits on the paintwork I just have to nip out and source a odd sized indicator bulb this morning Being a member of the club committee dictates that I am responsible getting / transporting several items of kit for the clubs national rally this weekend This is before SWMBO starts to load her massive travelling wardrobe It's hotel type of do for the weekend - The Majestic in Harrogate - circa 100 Jowett's from 1910 - 1954 & 250 members in attendance - the rally day is on Saturday and held in Valley Gardens which is in the centre of Harrogate - by all means come and say hello (not many club members know me has Grumpy Northerner so ask for Chris Spencer and they will point you in the right direction) Right then off to do some final packing of the car before departure

Excellent and you should be rightly proud of "your" cars picking up awards.
Well deserved.😊

Shameless mugshot of my 'Member of the Year' award - small trophy but it's been doing the rounds within the club for the last 50 years

Solid work Chris. Now you just need to sell the corsa and fix the other cars still sitting outside 😁

Solid work Chris. Now you just need to sell the corsa and fix the other cars still sitting outside 😁 Corsa is done - just got to list it on Auto Trader this weekend - barn is getting sorted - I will have a shuffle around and move the Javelin down there once it's had a wash and with Peter's Javelin now en route back to Switzerland I am starting to free some space up at last - next once I have moved these is to trailer my Jupiter project over to the barn - then I can dig the Maestro out and get that cleaned up and gone - last on the list is the Rover P6 but I would like to return her to the road this summer all being well

Forgot to mention how much the new front tyres have transformed the handling on the Javelin - although still on cross ply's the Avon Tourist's handle like the car is on radials - significantly better than the Waymasters that were on there - all the squeal from the tyres has gone too - with all four road wheels now done I just need to order a fifth tyre to replace the Waymaster that is on the spare wheel

Looks like you had a great turnout of cars, impressive given the cars age. I really like the look of the red pickup.

Looks like you had a great turnout of cars, impressive given the cars age. I really like the look of the red pickup. That's a Bradford truck - so same has the van that I restored but with a pick up body - these can be converted from vans where the rear timber frame of the van body is dead - they can be purchased relatively cheaply when compared to other makes - I know of at least 3 that are coming to market has project vehicles

I had not entered my Javelin in any of the classes but did not come home empty handed either - I was honoured to receive the 'Member of the Year' award for services to the club - primarily awarded for my work in managing the club stand at the NEC restoration show but also for the Jowett restoration threads detailed to 'Retro Rides' And very much deserved too, I looked through the photos of the rally and recognised cars that, until your threads, I would have scrolled past as I knew nothing about them... So you have definitely made Jowetts accessible to a lot more people! (Well done on being part of the concours wins too)
