.....Richard one of my fellow Jowett Car Club members had hired the track for the day - he intended upon exercising his Jupiter race car but this was currently out of action so he brought a handful of his other cars then invited other members & friends..... Blimey - all those are his? Would he like to adopt me? Not all of those were his but Richard does own about 20 + classics

So that's all the tickets & passes for Goodwood Revival sorted - I eventually found this years GRRC members badge after a frantic search - need to check the outfit & shirts next - along with the camping gear / club flags & whole host of other stuff that will be needed - then collect the Javelin from the barn and give it a wash & check over - fellow Jowett Car Club member Peter arrives from Switzerland on Weds & will stay overnight at ours before we head off early Thursday morning down to Goodwood

I had fully intended to get the Splitty out of the garage this afternoon and have a run prior to going to the Revival on Friday. Never happened. My prep will be to get home late Thursday evening, take all the stuff out to the back I’m planning to autojumble, fill it with petrol early Friday am and enjoy the drive down.

Cliff Griffin's street converted race car. Ran into the 7s and was the car to beat in Outlaw Anglia for donkeys years. He and the car have retired from racing which I think is ace.

Managed to get the Javelin back to the house from the barn and it gave it a good wash off & clean up - prior to loading all the kit into it Then my fellow Javelin owner Peter arrived from Switzerland with his car Many stories & catching up over dinner along with a few gins was a perfect start to our Revival

So here's Revival 2019 - It's an event that has it's critics - it's too expensive, over commercial, over hyped, false fronted, over capacity, too busy etc, etc - Well it is an expensive event to attend and its difficult to see everything in just one day - and you can readily expend several hundred quid in attending for just the one day let alone all 3 days of the event BUT NOTHING anywhere else in the world betters the Revival experience - no where else will you get the cars, the passion & the atmosphere that Revival provides - on with the pics - it's just my phone camera - no racing shots - no long view lenses - no fancy arty type shots - just pics that appealed to myself & may appeal to others First job upon arrival is to establish 'Camp Jowett' 30's Jowett Weasel - transported up from Cornwall So after a great get together on the Thursday evening of fellow Jowett owners it was time to put the fleet to work - we volunteer at the event and use the vehicles for taxi transport from The Kennels (members club), The Goodwood Hotel, along with several other venues to the circuit & return - its done on flexible shifts so we can attend the event / races has we wish - no financial reward but we are looked after, vehicles fuelled etc - we had 10 Jowett's on duty and form 20% of the very diverse taxi fleet - some genuine period taxis and others - well quite somewhat quite different Like this Morris J type van Huge Mini theme for this year - every model & production type represented Along with some huge efforts that go into the set dressing of circuit But the Minis were everywhere you looked Period busses pressed back into service Lots of very, very nice motors just parked up everywhere you looked Subaru 2 stroke and on taxi duties at that Javelin's actually make really good taxi's - very comfortable - plenty of boot space and by far from sluggish Huge amount of very desirable motors about though and this is just the hotel car park Jowett Jupiter - one of my restorations from 11 years ago Myself & Mrs GN in our period glad rags A wonder around just some of the circuit on the Saturday late afternoon has the crowds were thinning out With a venture into the paddock The Minis even got sneaked into the race paddock Point of Education 'Big Brakes' - are nothing new ! Could I please have my supercharger in a upright configuration Part 2 and a load more pics to follow this evening

And, if you don't mind me saying... You've got the period look down to a T. I can just see my Mum and Dad standing next to Granddad's Jowett! 'cept he was a little more portly and mum was a lot taller than him!

SWMBO and I had the pleasure of meeting these two lovely people on Saturday and we had a ride in the Jowett to boot If you get the chance just don't ask if it's a 2-stroke as the Jowett engine note is somewhat unusual

Sharon won't let Chris out to play unless he is properly turned out. I have said this before but don't they make a lovely couple.

Can I ask a question ...... I’ve heard before that it’s expensive ... but how cheaply could you do it?

Can I ask a question ...... I’ve heard before that it’s expensive ... but how cheaply could you do it? I think a single day ticket is heading for £90 ish + plus you have to get there & back - take a picnic & your own drinks if you are on a budget - however if you have to stay over you can always camp - you can add paddock passes - you can eat & drink on site should you wish but at a cost - you can also purchase a ticket for the March Enclosure - quite exclusive where you are wined & dined but its several hundred quid a day - ok the event caters for quite a lot of the monied type but equally it caters for everybody else - plan your day / or all 3 days well - budget accordingly and you will have a fantastic time - the event is very, very unique with people travelling from around the world to attend - so in answer to your question the cost of your ticket & travel + some food / drink - no reason why you could not do a single day on a budget of £125 - £150 dependant upon how far you have to travel

Just for a bit of perspective as to the cost, this weekend we went to London to see a show, £122 per ticket show lasted just over two hours. Chuck in a hotel at £100 for the night a half decent meal another £100ish so that was £422 for a day which was nowhere near as good as the Revival is.

Thanks for posting the pics GN and giving me a morning trip down memory lane to my favorite car toy as a kid, probably why it is my favorite Ferrari of all time (Still got it but looks slightly more play worn now...) Unfortunately work got in the way and i didn't manage get down there this year, so particularly enjoyed the spirit of Aviation pics, I usually wander around them late on the Friday as the Kinrara Trophy race is taking place into the dusk.
