Start with the biggest capacitor you have. The worst that will happen is your gauge won't read anything.

I have some film caps the size of a coke can. They do? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Maybe ill start a little smaller. Ive some super posh caps laying around too, and some exotic resistors lol.

Sorry fad , another question if i may. This is one of the links I found, should I wire it like the last diagram, resistor and capacitor in series, both across the gauge, so the 22k doesnt effect the reading from the sender? www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/53-cadillac-fuel-sender-sloppy.980737/I have some 100, 470 and 1000uf caps, ill dig through my resistors and see what I have. Edit... git some 27k, nearest I have to 22k I think. Ill try when the dash is back together and see what happens.

That last post on the link is correct and what I would have done and calculated for you had you asked me to chuck some time at it.

I have been told they did this from new. I cant believe, even in 1979, you could buy a new car with a fuel gauge that sloshed about as you drove! Fast forward into the future, 'ladies and germs... I give you the Discovery..' Corner hard enough and you loose an eighth of a tank and the clincher is that you don't get it back, even by cornering the other way! I'm actually starting to believe that it's fallen out somewhere! The Bm registers additional fuel after a stop at a station and I think 'is that all' after I start it and then as if by magic the gauge finishes it's tea break and moves up some more. My old mates Jtype fuel gauge refused to work at all so we introduced it to a wooden dip stick, that gave very accurate readings... enough/ not enough. All these things go in the big box of 'character'. - Additional fuel gauge woes: *The Orion that once filled over the halfway mark, stayed there until it run out of fuel... thought it was a bit too economical. *The Galaxy that was bough cheap as a non start. Once the length of hosepipe was removed from the fuel tank it actually contained zero fuel. Touch.

The gauge on my t4 has a mind of its own, varying between correct? to right off the scale, wedged against the temperature gauge needle. Currently using the trip, and every 400 miles, fill the tank with 40 litres of veg and 6 litres of petrol Ttfn Glenn

Why not just use some anti surge foam ?? Will act as a baffle

Why not just use some anti surge foam ?? Will act as a baffle Because I don't want to drop the tank. But, more than that, I don't see how I could stop the foam from getting in the way of the fuel sender.

Oh, and there is only one hole in which is about 2" diameter and is in the middle of a 2' square flat tank. No real access to get inside and do anything.

Toyota cured this by having oil filled gauges. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Thus dampened the movement of the dials.
