Hi everyone, If you've owned your car long enough, it becomes more than just a car, but rather an extension of the family, a faithful steed or an old friend. Here we look at motorists who have owned the same car for 30 / 40 / 50 years. Do you have you own Forever Car? www.adrianflux.co.uk/forever-cars/Let us know what you think!

My VW T3 bus, it's a family heirloom as my grandfather personally purchased it back in 1985. Never going to part with that! 32 years in the family and 2 years registered on my name. Everything else is very much for sale for the right price

Got given my 1970 Morris Minor Traveller (a family hand-me-down) back in April 1989, and it's been in my ownership for nigh-on 28 years now. Certainly a faithful steed...

My 110 has been with me for 8 or so years now, the longest I've ever owned a car, it really is part of the family now.

I've had my Toledo for 9 years and my Sprint for 5. Neither of those will be sold till the keys are prised from my cold, dead hands! My record is 29 years, a 1964 Volvo 122S Estate, a French export LHD model I paid £100 for in 1982. It did everything, towed anything, helped with 2 house moves and brought both my newborn children safely home from hospital. Around 2008 i could no longer ignore the deterioration of the upper bodywork and the engine was an increasingly rattly 240,000 miler so I embarked on a full resto which was about 80% complete when I fell on hard times in 2011 and sold it, a decision that was forced on me, but I still regret it to this day! I sold it to a guy who promised to finish it, which he did, take care of it and give me first refusal in the unlikely (he said) event that he sold it. He didn't! He sold it to a German guy and it was exported only a few months after I sold it, I was gutted! Would I buy it back? In a heartbeat!

Bought for £400 back in November 2001. 15 and a half years later I still have it. Been with me through 5 house moves, two children, one marriage (and subsequent divorce). Currently languishing at my parents house, haven't driven it in three months, but knowing it's there makes me happy.

Dads w123 280ce Mercedes Benz. Must've had it 15 years now. Been through 2 rebuilds, a 6 year dry storage session and much juice.
My 06 Saab 9-3 vector sport TiD saloon. Had it 7 years and 90,000 miles. No matter what, it's staying with me. Been such a faithful workhorse, battering up and down the motorways all hours of the day.
Dads Shogun sport has been here 8 years too. Seen so much abuse.
My 1971 Austin 1300 has been with us 6+ years too.

Owned my '58 Ford Pop 103e since 1983 - it's going nowhere. The wife says she'll bury me in it! :-) The wife feels pretty much the same about her 2000 Aprilia Havana 125 which she bought when it was just five months old.

I seem to buy cars and just keep them even when they die. I've had my '51 Vanguard since 1985 and although I haven't driven it or even had it cranking over since the '80s it remains in my shed at my parents' place. Think my son has his eye on it. I've had my former daily '75 Austin 1300 well over 25 years too. It is well rusted out and hasn't run since the winter of '96 but it sits in the paddock alongside my dead '78 Mercedes Benz 0305 bus as a potential source of spare parts for a future project. I've only had my EN Civic since the late '90s but it's been in the family from new being an '80 model first registered in, I think March, 1981.

Not mine, my stepdad bought a Mk5 Zetec S brand new in 2002, finally scrapped it late last year when he finally realised the rot wasn't worth salvaging

Yes, a nice variety of stories. I certainly won't be letting go of the '79 Accord Hatch I've had almost 25 years after getting it at 17 as my first car in a sad state from my aunt who had bought it new. Repaired, damaged, repaired & due more attention but I can't even relieve it of daily duties easily. After 17 years '89 CR-X Vtec also a keeper; desired from sight of first release magazine images.
