Up for sale is my viva deluxe, i've owned this for nearly a year now and alot of work has gone into it, the reason i'm selling it is i've spent more time working on it than actually driving it! It's nearly there but after being offered another viva locally i've decided to sell up.
When i bought it, it had been off the road probably ten years as there was no record of it on the MOT database, the previous owner had done some work to it and i've carried that on getting it up to MOT standards. It was supposed to have had the carb rebuilt but I think it was simply cleaned and put back together as it wouldn't re-start when I got it home, I had the carb completely stripped and overhauled with all new gaskets, diaphragm etc...
In addition to that it's had NEW:
- Spark plugs/ leads
- Distributor cap, rotor arm
- Powerspark electronic Ignition
- AC Delco fuel pump
- All new copper fuel and brake lines front to back!
- Drum brakes refurbished and all work fine
- HC viva handbrake lever, adjusted up and holds well on 3 clicks
- New battery and all battery/ starter leads/ earths renewed
- New rear screen rubber with chrome insert
- Sports coil
- Oil change with new filter and Air Filter
- Recon starter motor
- New old stock rear exhaust section
- FE Victor inertia front seat belts
- FE Victor sun visors
- Centre console with switch for reversing lights
To go with the car i also have a new boot seal as that needs doing The headlining is currently in the boot as it needs replacing, these are readily available from east kent trim.
Mechanically it needs the clutch release bearing doing, it was sold to me like that, but in the 600 miles i've covered in it, it hasn't got any worse. I have one to go with the car.
Engine and gearbox are all ok, goes well for an 1159, i've had 1256 engined vivas before and this feels more lively. Can sometimes be hard to start when warm, i've been told it's probably the timing too advanced.
Bad bits: As mentioned the clutch release bearing and the headlining need doing at some point. The drivers lock sometimes plays up and can't be opened from the inside, opens from the outside. I will try and get this fixed, it was working before, i think it's just down to lack of use.
It's been repainted at some point as it was originally blue, paint shines well although it does have some dings as you might expect for a car that is 48 years old!
It's currently got a GT grille on and I have the deluxe grille to go with it, Rostyle wheels and all good tyres but I'm keeping the chrome rings.
It's mot'd until december, all it needed was a small bit of welding in the boot and an earth wire for the rear lights!
