Yo guys! Seeing as it's all quiet on the volvo front, I thought I'd finally share Hugo with you guys! About a year or so ago, I went to pick up some volvo parts from a fellow volvo owner (and now great personal friend) called John, as I arrived at his yard, I immediately saw this absolute beauty and HAD to own it! Here's how he looked when I first saw him... So after a good look round and a nice chat, I went home, ummd and aarrd about it (for all of 27 milliseconds) then messaged John and a deal was done! However!!! There was an immediate problem... At the time of purchase, I had my volvo, yaris AND my mk3 escort at home there was no space! (Also, the parents wouldn't be best pleased) so little Hugo stayed at John's yard after a chat! The plan is to slam it, banded steels, drive it daily, the end... haha John took a look round Hugo and we decided that polo coilovers may fit all round! So a friend and I drove to another friends in Boston to pick up a set of 4 used coilovers for the price of maccies, petrol and £30!... So i sent them to John and he got to work chopping and combining polo/yugo goodness! (Feat doggo!) First to go down was the front... Worked out brilliant! So did the back but no pics I'm afraid! Then some banded steels were located... 13x9+balloon tyres= no go So then some 13x8s and more suitable tyres were sourced (shows rear "fitment") Then 1 wheel sits about an inch put of the arch!? Car's never been in a shunt and there's no warping/damage ANYWHERE! So we've put it on some 13" Abarth wheels for the time being! That's where things are today! MOT soon! Cheers guys!

Then 1 wheel sits about an inch put of the arch!? You are talking about a budget car no one wants made in a country that doesn't exist anymore (I like these, don't take that the wrong way. Quirky little things!) Maybe VIP has encountered anything like that before though? Is it a front or rear that 'sticks out'?

Among my many daydreams of cars that need to be built, I was thinking of one of these with the engine/gearbox & suspension out of a modern 500 Abarth. Or a chassis swap, if that would work out better... But leave the body as stock as possible, and probably even a little scruffy.

Probably just a case of curse word build quality haha! I think it's driver's side front! Can't remember at the moment haha, thanks for the help! I'll probably get a smaller banded steel made, then just run like that! Haha

I'm gunna run it standard for the time being, let's see what the future holds!!

The Abarth alloys look waaaay bettered than the banded steels. Looks great! Now treat those rusty bits before they get holey

Yeah, as above I think it looks better on the alloys....
Being such a budget car originally and on steels the alloys make it different from the expected

So yesterday John put Hugo through an mot... AANNNDDD.... DRUM ROLL... IT'S A FAIL!!! HUUURRAAAAHHHH... wait a minute... that's not right! He failed on brakes, so John, ever the absolute curse word legend, he sorted out the brakes, got it in for a re-test ANNNND.... PASS! So, at 21.30 last night, me and my good friend Charlie headed off on a late night trundle to Coventry to collect Hugo! We got there just around 23.30 ish, met John and got hugo plopped on Charlie's trailer and off we went! Got back at about 02.30 all unloaded, job done... So after not enough sleep, I went out to see hugo and he's just too low for my current needs! Have some pics... So the suspension needs to be adjusted, and a straight pipe made to allow more space under the car, then hopefully I can finally use it on a daily basis!!

You need to do some wheel alignment, negative chamber helps a lot when it comes to fitment. Looks pretty decent, I've seen much worse... everything from Fiat is probable fit, regarding brakes, suspension, etc. You can play with it as much as you like. Try finding some good Weber DMTR from Tipo/Tempra or any other Fiat from those period, take manifolds from it and it will YuGo much better.

As for the fitment etc, it's only sitting like that as it got raised to go on the trailer It'll get wound down again once I've sorted out the exhaust as it's dragging on the floor at the mo haha Yeah man I'm looking at all fiat stuff, I'd like to put the panda fire engine in it at some point
