Wow! Long overdue update. Back in July sometime, I was sent on a training course in Worksop. The weather was lovely at that time and as I have ZERO interest in football or watching the Euro's, I took my bike with me to go exploring in the evenings. The hotel I stayed in was right next to a canal so I had a lovely evening cycling along the towpath, when I happened upon some rusty stuff in the bushes.
A couple of tractory type things and what looked like a convertible roof but I couldn't make out the car underneath. Lot's of other stuff laying around too.
Back from the course and I was gifted a large carpet remnant which I cut up and layed in the garage of course.
And then a last weekend was the Land Rover Owner show, which had been postponed last year due to you know what. The camping ground was very busy and the show was great. My mate and my brother in law and I all enjoyed ourselves (like responsible adults) and I picked up some great bargains. Many pictures were taken but these are a few of my favourites.
I picked up some rock sliders for £65 for the pair and the guy selling them saidI could have the bumper that matched them for free as it was damaged.
So I tried out my new press, bashed it with a BFH, made some relief cuts and welded them up and now it looks like this.
Needs a bit of filler and some painting to finish off. The rock sliders fitted nicely and look great too.
Also got my larger tyres fitted to the new to me wheels and also got them on the car. The Boost alloys I had are now for sale.
Among my bargains at LRO show was a Mantec swing away spare wheel carrier for £5!! It needed some rust holes patched and stripping back and painting.
All fitted up and looking fantastic. The home made one I hadn't finished has been stored in the "might be useful one day" pile.
The donor Beemer is still here. I still haven't managed to free all of the injectors yet despite various methods. Cranking the engine with the hold down clamps off and just the injector pipe attached, covering the injectors in Coke, Covering them in diesel. I have found a removal tool on Evilbay for around £54 so I may have to swallow that and buy the correct tool. Once I get the injectors cleaned, hopefullly the intermittent misfire disappears and then I can yank the engine out and plonk it in Defender.
Thanks for checking in.
