I'm in a group on facebook called The Longroof Crew Parts Department. There is a gentleman giving away the chassis and F/G body off an Mk1/2 escort based Kitcar. Quite a good looking machine actually. Called the terragan magenta txr, But he needs it gone ASAP so please someone save it before it gets cut up.

I'd take it as a project for my youngest if it was anywhere close by. Someone needs to save this.

Looks a little like a TR7 estate might look.

It was a fully built, registered car. I believe it was offered as such originally. Mk1 or 2 escort running gear I think.

The Tarragon TXR was based on Capri running gear. I built one in the mid 80's and used it as a daily, then sprint/hillclimb car then tow car for my racing SIMCAs until about 2002. Will look out photo.

Why did they name a kit car after a herb?

When I first turned up at work in it and told me old boss what it was he said 'I bet you feel a right herb driving that' Lost count of how many times he cracked that one later. I used the parts of a rotten Mk 1 Capri to build it. It ran a 1700 crossflow. When I sold it in the early 2000s, a Guy who was into restoring old school Fords bought it and I think, like this one it got stripped for the parts... which probably found their way back into the Dagenham 'tin'..... The SS1 in the background was my brother's which he bought new. It was an early one without a galvanised chassis. After a couple of years, rust could be seen oozing from under the fibreglass.... He sold it quick as he already had a MATRA SIMCA Bagheera which was constructed in the same way.... but had had many more years to rust...!!!
