Friction plates for bedford cf clutches don't seem to come up often.
Is there anything else that uses a 9.5" friction plate with 10 splines on a 1" shaft?
Can find plenty with 1 1/8" shafts. Or, are there any websites I can search by size?
I assume I can also get the old one fitted with new friction material. Any idea what that normally costs?

Hi, Try this - www.spagweb.com/v8mini/tech_files/clutch_QH08.pdf The CF came with a choice of three g/boxes, a car box, a ZF or the TK one. On that spline size it looks like the car box, the cars had an 8.5" clutch and the van a 9.5" as you say. Have you got the clutch out and measured it or are you going by what in parts books? Have you checked which g/box is actually fitted? Good luck. Colin

Thanks for the link, ill go through it later.
All you say is right.
I have the vauxhall 4 speed in mine so as you say, 8.5" for car and 9.5" for van.
Ive not took it out yet. Ive seen people trying to find them and having trouble so ive been looking as I know ill need one at some point.
I cant believe they are that hard to find, I'm hoping there just not often Advertised for this application.

Dammit. Been through and it seems to be unique.
I did find some AMC clutch in america that was the same size but thats no easier to get hold of.
Seems as they have just put a bigger plate on the small spline car box its unusual. All the other 10 spline on 1" are 8.5" and all the 9.5" 10 spline plates are 1 1/8".

I've got one for sale but it's a paddle type. not sure a paddle clutch would be suitable, but what vehicle is it intended for? Its looking like this us an unusual size in the uk.

I also found there is a relining place local that should charge about £45 so thats also an option. I just want to be prepared and get bits ready. Ive found release bearings for anywhere from £10-£45 and ive found clutch plates but anything up to £125. Never seen a pressure plate but there probably the same as the cars.

I've got these numbers for the clutch plate in my Firenza, which I believe is the same 9.5" / 10 x 1" plate: Motaquip - HB1941 / 51226/87 / C882AF / VCP260. Last time I needed one, I just got it from a local motor factor, they got everything correct except the clutch release bearing. If it is the same as the Firenza one, you could try Stuart Anderson at Magardsport.com as he keeps various Firenza bits in stock.

Whats the deal with release bearings and pressure plates? I'm going to assume the firenza etc ones are also the same. Ive never seen a CF pressure plate for sale!

Google search throws up firenza site that lists those clutch part numbers as for the zf box.

Once had a similar problem and ended up using just the centre part of old friction plate and having to adapt it to fit a similar diameter plate with centre swapped over

Yeah, thats an option. don't think it will come to that hopefully.
All the parts seem to be available, but with most things CF, prices are high so its good to cross reference everything.
For example, front brake shoes are usually £50-£75 and uncommon but they are the same as some early transits and they are easy to source and available for £15-£25.

Have a chat with 'Clutchfix'. They make custom clutches, although more geared toward truck stuff they've started to get into Land Rover size stuff -9.5 inch upwards- so could probably do something to help.
I spent a lot of time trying to find a suitable friction plate at a sensible price for my M52 conversion in my 110, they solved the problem without fuss and cheaper than anywhere else could manage.
I got a free sticker too.

Ive never seen a CF pressure plate for sale! I can only say from the Firenza viewpoint, though I do know someone with a CF he's out of the country at the moment and I don't know if it has the ZF in it. My Laycock clutch book says: CF Van 2279cc petrol 1971-76, 9.5" (240mm), cover: C86315, plate: D85954, bearing: B86695. In the notes in the back it says: C86315: 9.5" (240mm) - Bedford, Ford Commercial (Transit with optional HD clutch), Rover (SD1 2300 1977on, SD1 2400 Diesel 1982on, SD1 2600 1977on), Triumph (Stag V8 3.0), Vauxhall, Volvo (164, 1968-74) D85954: 9.5" (240mm) with 1" (25mm) x 10 - Bedford, Humber (Hawk Series III and IV), Vauxhall B86695: Ball - Bedford, Lotus (Éclat 4-speed and 5-speed, 1975-80), Vauxhall The Firenza site is where I copied those earlier numbers from, but the Laycock book doesn't mention the HP Firenza specifically. All of those numbers are "this is how I read the book", obviously check before buying.

Some Vauxhall Senator's and Opel Monza's have 9.5" clutch but some are 9".
Not sure of spline count though.
May give you another option?
