Due to the impending arrival of a small screaming bundle of trouble i'm unfortunately going to have to sell my XK8.
Main points as follows:-
Good -
Rebuilt engine - basically when I bought it the engine was kippered, massive oil consumption, no compression. Its got a 2nd hand bottom end (off a low milage car, sourced from a well known breakers in Coventry) with the existing heads being skimmed cleaned etc. It cost a lot of money I doubt i'll see back
Uprated chain tensioners - not the plastic ones
All new belts and waterpump when engine rebuilt
New MAF sensor
New headlining - old one was saggier than, well you can make your own jokes here.
Recent MOT, no advisories, feel free to check out its history on the gov website. You'll note its has some welding in the past, its on the drivers side front floor.
96,000 miles on the clock. Which is, less that 100,000 I guess.
Look at it. Its cool. You know it.
Bad -
Interior is tatty in places, drivers side seat especially and drivers door card needs popping back in properly. I have the clips for this.
There is some surface rust - a small patch on the front windscreen pillar and a little on the rear arches. I have seen much worse and it is far from a problem
Its missing a 'tooth' and numberplate holder from the nosecone, see pics
No history from before my ownership
Random scratches etc see pictures
The inlet for the air filter cracked, so has some tape around it.
Someone, in their infinite wisdom* has fitted the wrong sized tyres to the back. They are brand new but are actually for the front (differing sizes front and rear), so now the traction control doesnt work, it cuts in at about 25mph - worked perfectly before the change (you cant turn it off and drive normally). I am looking to put these new tyres and on the front and source some rears
In a nutshell its a rolling project car. I'm quite confident these have hit the bottom of the market now and are starting to creep up in value. I would strongly advise you come to view it.
* This may have been me, while working away, trusting online tyre suppliers and not double checking, then getting someone else to take the car to the fitter.
