I am amazed at just how slowly things are now happening compared to my usual project pace with this whole cardiac thing. But it still beats sitting in front of the telly 24/7 So today, Sally again put on her “garage clothes”, stolen from Ryan, her younger son and came to help me, shifting, carrying, advising, mocking, teasing and generally being helpful, she also weeded the whole garden and cut the grass for me....... yup, I know it’s going to cost me somewhere in the future. Looking as unflattering as can be, hair back, old tracksuit, boots, and lugging an engine balancer bar down to the shed..... My kinda girl.  So....... Yup, truck still waiting in here behind all this and the rest.  So started to clear out garage, so that I can get to the C10 and it’s parts that are stacked up high in the rear. Put this in the market as I decided not to build the little kart as planned, sometimes thanklessness deserves a zero......  Removed the small, tall table, and though it does not look it, fitted and fixed this one, made of a kitchen worktop offcut.  Slowly, getting there.  Done, actually got loads of little jobs done. Tomorrow we will start of the old welding table, not yet started there. I seem to be doing two hours and call g it a day. Done for today.  In the mean time, Dennis is now again going full steam ahead with his 66 C10 NASCAR build. Hendricks Motor is ready to fit. He got some complete AP Racing brakes all round yesterday, and fitted them today.   NASCAR Spec front end too.  This thing is going to ROCK !!! Later. |

But it still beats sitting in front of the telly 24/7 Are you actually feeling out of sorts or just taking it easy on doctors (or Sally's) orders? If the latter don't let the medics convince you that you've suddenly turned into an old man as they did with me last year. After being diagnosed with a heart condition I don't actually have, although there are problems, they drugged me up, made me worse and convinced me I was about to pop my clogs, or in your case flip flops, at any moment. It turned out that the extra medication they put me on were slowing me down and bringing on symptoms I didn't have. |

Just caught up with this. Trust it's nothing more than a scare.
I know you are in the "trade" but as said, watch the meds.
When we had a review of Madam's medicines, some of which she'll have to take forever since the shooting, we found one doc had prescribed tablets for low blood pressure, which went a treat with those for high!

So Sally supervised, helped and mocked me all day, well, after 12.00 when my guest Michael who also has a bunch of older aircooked VW’s including a split bus. He came from Southend to collect the Hazet trolley and another toolbox I had. Two hours later he left. I really love this community, we are all connected. After a cuppa and chat with Sally, we headed down to start the slow ask of sorting, packing and clearing logically the work benches in the garage.  Paint cans for storing.  SomI used a modern woodworkers vies.  One of the jobs was to make a safer step for the caravan using some Oak that we already inside of Prozac for the tip. Through the day I was chatting with Andy “OldIronFarmer” in Oklahoma and Sennis in St Louis. All good. Andy also shared this lovely seat tree he had seen.   One of the jobs was to create space for my panel beaters hammers and dolly’s.  It is great having company in the form of Sally and also Harley, who always comes to wherever I am busy.  Security cat seems to approve too.  And lastly, painted this guy and put him at the door.  Closed shop before 4pm as I had had enough. Tired again. |

Another day of slow recovery. Helped by The Little Van That Can. I needed to do two tip runs, and go dismantle some furniture, then carry it down an alley. Followed by delivery elsewhere.   Packed and ready to run. Prozac strikes again  Was also asked to sell these cases if interest in them.  Tired tonight Got glenanderson visiting tomorrow to collect the blue trolley, and samta22 on Saturday to collect the red Dino Cars chassis. Still not to put the 125cc Honda motor up for sale. |

mmmm....welding shed....of course....bonfire night isn't far off! (says the man that once set fire to a bin of oily rags with welding sparks!! ;-) ) Trust me..... Years ago, upside down, under the “dash” of a Sandmaster offroad race car, welding structural framework, I managed to set myself alight, much to my mates’ entertainment. Uncoiling myself and getting out of that position was swift and amusing. Prozac collected a load of furniture yesterday and more today for Sally. The Van that Can.  |

Grizz, my dad managed to set fire to the front of his overalls while welding. He said he wondered why there was smoke coming up under his welding mask, then looked down and saw flames!
He also set fire to the accumulated paint dust around the motor of our compressor with angle grinder sparks!

That all is nothing compared to the consequence of a giant failure I once saw mentioned in some sort of video about accidents at work places:
some one was electrode welding at his full metal welding table with the ground correctly attached to that table. Unfortunately there was a tin can with paint thinner standing on that table, too.
When the welder laid down his electrode holder on the table it touched the tin can...
You can guess the rest.

He also set fire to the accumulated paint dust around the motor of our compressor with angle grinder sparks! As they say.... “stuff happens” That all is nothing compared to the consequence of a giant failure I once saw mentioned in some sort of video about accidents at work places: some one was electrode welding at his full metal welding table with the ground correctly attached to that table. Unfortunately there was a tin can with paint thinner standing on that table, too. When the welder laid down his electrode holder on the table it touched the tin can... You can guess the rest. Would not want to see that. I always try to preplan for all eventualities, right down to trying to have my mobile in my pocket when working alone. Thinners on the table is just stupid though imho. |

I've managed to set a compressor on fire in the same way i guess the paint dust is cellulose which does burn really well like the old film used to. I managed to put it out (I always keep a bucket of water around) and the plastic housing was a bit distorted but it still worked afterwards. I |

So..... Remember where Prozac joined my random ramblings?? Remember why?? The last few weeks have turned my speed down to an output equivalent to about 30% of my own expectation. Anyway, Sally and I went to see friends in Maidstone earlier and to look for a Honda CR-V from FB Marketplace supposedly being sold by someone. It seems he is a total timewaster, maybe getting a kick when people respond, wanting to buy the car. Anyway, still don’t have a replacement for Prozac with more than the 1400cc motor, and fitted with a towbar. So when we got back home, I reversed the Berlingo down to the garage and opened the shop. This has has been building up for a while, since I started gathering my thoughts and motivation around getting back on the C10 Restoration. So Sally helped me load the Berlingo and took photos. Amazing how large the doors are. Original Drivers side.  Replacement passenger door, original went to Ian Brown with some patch panels for his restoration, already repaired and painted.  Typically being supervised by my assistant. She makes me laugh, more dog than cat.  Had to drill out the front panel engine bay light switch as it was rusted tight in position  Two doors in, front panel next.  Reconsidering it, the front fenders went in, followed by the inner fenders.  Almost all there.  Pair of good rust free replacement inner fenders bought from Del in Essex from a truck he broke a few years ago.   Then went back into the garage and found and unpacked the front radiator support panel and managed to wriggle it in as well.  Tomorrow morning early I have my pre-work at a hospital 20 miles from here, and after that I hope to go drop off all these truck parts for media blasting and Etch priming at Ashford industrial estate Hopefully it will save me some preparation time on the welding and painting of the truck parts for the resto. I believe getting these jobs done in the intricate parts of these panels will save me some time and a lot of effort. . |
