Nice sober shooting works too. That little gun packs a serious punch, so I hope to get a rat or two if I see them. I know, but I like loud and messy. Found out Madam's little Shih Tsu is a real little ratter. Started as a pup, practising on cockroaches, reducing them to their molecular level, then moved on to rats. She had three in the garage in the last place and two so far here. She's as good as a Jack Russel. I'm impressed that a Chinese copy works so well! Thatβs both funny and also true. Sometimes the most unexpected heroes step forward. Dukey only had one year of unbridled killing in his 16 year life, and that year it was a bloodbath, thereafter he went back to being Captain Chaos, scared of his own shadows

HOLD MY BEER........!!! WATCH THIS....!!! Steven my current 20 week lodger (welding contractor) and I grabbed a few beers, a target and some pellets this week. Shooting at 25 meters from just inside the house. Nothing special, and my excuse is not shooting for over 30 years. The next evening I grabbed some more pellets and had three short sessions. So much more practice needed. But it is fun for sure. Remember the nest with the six Wrens eggs?? Situated here: Six little mouths to feed. Quick feedback from my friend Hazel whom I had made the wall hanging for. The rusting process on the background is now going well, spreading evenly. She is happy and sent the pic. Thursday evening I went over to visit a lady who has a cat and a dog...... Perfect for me yes. Her surprise was great when her cat made himself at home in my arms, seems he is not really bothered with visitors. Earlier on I had to select a pocket knife as I was taking along some dried and smoked Russian game sausage and while deciding which one of about three to take, I realised there were a lot more knives than one person really needed. In the end the Case won out. Meet βWyzzβ her dog and companion. He seemed to like me too, after giving me the once over......... He settled down draping himself over me. Not sure if the smoked sausage had anything to do with the friendship.

For stuff like that, it would have to be the Opinel for me. Just seems so right.

For stuff like that, it would have to be the Opinel for me. Just seems so right. Almost Beer-0-Clock here. Opinel certainly is top three. And to be honest, possibly best for the job, but like the cups (mugs) in my house, they are all different and deliver differently. The Case has an emotional hook as well as feeling heavier in hand.

The Case has an emotional hook as well as feeling heavier in hand. Know what you mean. The mug I use for tea is the ONLY mug I'll use for tea! You've reminded me I need an Opinel back in my life - bought my first one on my virginal Le Mans trip - and I've found someone here that sells them. That'll be next weekends task. I like tasks like that. Been beer o'clock for some hours now, and I sit here with a cold one whilst the ugliest Shih Tzu on the planet lies at my feet!

One of my best weekends in months. Friday I saw a GP for an ongoing back issue that has been getting worse. He will be refering me for a spinal MRI. Saturday I did all my yard and housework as I have been a bit distracted recently. In the afternoon I took the bike out and rode over to Craigβs place to go ride with him and his wife. Lorraine is a new rider with under 300km on her tacho so far. Her Honda Grom looks toy like next to the GS. Craigβs 250 commuter so that he can guide her at a sensible pace. Like me, he has ridden bikes since about age 10. (I started at 13 and never stopped) I brought up the rear most of the day. Lorraine is a very confident rider as she has driven all her life, and understands road craft intuitively After coffee and cake we split and I headed home via Maidstone and Woodsie place. At the end of the day I did 185 miles for the day. Woodsie noticed that my rear drive was weeping oil, so a rebuild is on the cards. Sunday Bootfair scores included this sign used on out of service trains and some old piece of equipment, still to be investigated. Some collectors coins and a mini tankard. Tankard May be headed to Winfield, Kansas. Had a lady friend over for a BBQ yesterday, minus her dog, Wyzz as my cats would not be impressed. Took her for a walk up to the farm to show off....... Saw this Poppy........ In other news, mate Martin has started back on his truck. Progress from this pic I took last weekend now includes loadbed and fenders fitted back.

The Grom is an awesome little bike. Not much of a highway machine but lots of fun in the city. Driven one a few times. Been very tempted a few times but I really don't need a bike.
Thanks for a great write up again

Rian have you a Gerber (my prefered brand) knife? I use the Bear Grylls Scout version for day to day. Very much a working tool with a plastic handle. I too have a few Opinel. Doesnt take much to get a razors edge on one. Mine lives in the tackle box.

Did a quick 15 shots in sets of 5 last night. Using a single point rest and my shoulder there is clearly a lot of movement still. I will be using a more solid rest next. But prefer the idea of pulling the weapon up and just st shooting as pigeons and rats don't wait for you to get comfortable. After runnong down to Faversham to collect a new 200 Amp Mig welder I bought yesterday........ more to report later. I popped in to see my buddy Wyzz and his mistress. Got fed too.... Bargain. Funny creature, he likes to sit upright like this. More interesting, "garage stuff" to report later.

way to go on the target practice, Grizz....I teach the sport to kids of all ages and recently purchased two very nice training .22 rifles. Walther KK100. They are amazing, and used to train professional shooters for advanced competition. I only bring them out once in a while and rely on good old Remingtons, Savage, Marlins, ect for daily practice....( I teach target sports at a Summer camp)..... in other news...I have yet to get on the bike this season...my antique at this point bike, Honda GL500I (fairing and bags) has served me very well indeed over the years. I did decide on using all Honda parts when I rebuilt it over a decade ago, and all it really needs is a carb tune every year.....amazing bike. (it wont get you into trouble because its overpowered, thats for sure!) glad to hear things are well! JP

I guess it had to happen some time....... We all respond differently to lifeβs challenges. Thank you all fo the support and patience while I dragged my butt on the Chevy truck resto by doing all sorts of other stuff and observing life around me. Many of you have been willing me on to get back to the truck, but it has its own schedule. So here is a clue. Can you guess what it is yet?? Yup....... Time to start back on the truck. Bodywork and welding. Lots of welding. Bought the welder direct from Rally Design and collected it from mate Neil in Faversham last night. Thanks mate. Looking forward to getting the wire and dialling it in, then starting the cut, weld, grind boogie. Unpacked it in the lounge earlier, remember who pays the mortgage..... itβs a lovely machine. Can do both MiG and arc or stick welding.. While I was with Neil and looking at his car www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/bit-bit-503826He asked if I was interested in buying a Snap On toolbox. Considering my tools have lived here the last two years........ The answer had to be yes please. So tonight after work I took Prozac and headed down to Neil's place again, cash in hand, After cleaning up the toolbox for me, we had to carry it between and over two Mercedes Benzβs And into the back of this amazing little van. Back at home...... Next up will be cleaning it up, cleaning the tools and packing the lot up. And then..... Truck time, inbetween living life as we know it. In the mean time the six baby birds keep growing. Thanks for checking in.

Hey, Grizz. Yes, the bike is like an old Moto Guzzi. its a twin, but sideways, if you know what I mean. The CX500 is the same bike. My GL500I had saddle bags, trunk, crash bars, front fairing and windshield added. Back in the day, it was what I would call advanced: liquid cooled, driveshaft, air ride adjustable..... The welder looks great.....looking forward to progress on the truck, and certainly understand about it having its own schedule! JP

Forgot to add in Neilβs Valiant last night. Unpacked and modified my new welder tonight. Extendable cable. Fitted a large heavy duty earth clamp too Still need to get some pipe for the gas bottle and a fitting for the regulator. Just where the old fitting and pipe goes in. And lastly tonight, a few shots again.

Got home late from London as the new improved train schedules have added 30 minutes to my commute. Service sucks big time. But got the regulator sorted and some pipe for the gas. Then decided to make a small skateboard based trolley and brace for the welder and gas bottle after fitting the roll of wire etc. Some bits added together. Skateboard Β£1.00 at Bootfair. Welded the gas bottle brace up. Other side. Get the idea? Assembled. Functional. Parked away. Next up some welding and fine tuning it all. Thanks for stopping by.

I can see the 3 pin plug on the end and it makes me all queasy (Nice trolley btw) I moved it from my 160Amp Clarke welder where it worked perfectly. It seems to handle the 35Amp posted demand admirably. I promise not to do any welding when you pop in for a cuppa though.
