Before we went off to the Alpaca BBQ this little Boat tailed Austin was parked up across the street from Katy's place. There are a lot of vintage cars to be seen in Surrey ( on the Surrey/Sussex/Kent borders) and they always make me smile as people use them regularly. Just lovely and small. All the parts on it are dainty and beautifully made. Spoke to the owner as well and made a little video as he left, but YouTube is not cooperating today. The BBQ was lovely, with the hosts Phil and Kay making one instantly at home. Phil is also an engineer, so I enjoyed it even more. Along with a beer or two, and the ever inquisitive alpacas who were rescued from a river a few years ago when there were floods here. They love company and will steal food off the table if you let them. Lastly....... Through the day a few more donations came in, big and little, every one welcome. And we went through the tracked ยฃ1500.00 mark. I was as chuffed as anything. These donations landed us at ยฃ1516.00Which looks so impressive in South African Rands. Of which there were some donations as well, thank you again. So lastly, I just want to raise a toast to every person who in one or another way, contributed, encouraged and tolerated me the last few weeks while I banged this drum for collecting funds for the charity. Thank you all !! Half of Sunday to go......

Thought I was done with this fund raiser. Well, seems not quite. Firstly, MiataMark saw this awesome little key ring and got it for me. Reminder of the ride in the TuTu Thanks mate !! Secondly. THIS ONE IS FOR EVERY ONE OF YOU....!!My Boss' Boss' Boss is Dan, who was the primary driving force in getting this fund raiser going for the kids. Today he sent me a personal email. (At this point he has no clue who exactly I am, would not recognise me if I walked into a room) So the thanks goes to everybody who helped get this number up there, despite it grinding to a halt at 93% meaning they still have a ways to go to get to the ยฃ25.000.00 target. It has been a good day.

Bit like a Medusa..... Chop off a head and another two grows...... Thanks Tim. It did indeed make me smile. Boosted my morale for sure. This makes the "Internet donations" move up to ยฃ1521.00 in traceable donations. Let's see what today brings.

2017 has been a hard year so far, with no let up in sight from a work point of view. After being made redundant last year in January from possibly the nicest job I had had in 10 years, along with the rest of the UK and Europe, I was fortunate enough to walk straight into another job...... but is has been the toughest and most challenging job I have had in 25 years, seriously. The market I work continues to become more challenging daily for all of us, and the expectations just grow and grow. However, my manager and his team saw fit to bring us to an exotic (not somewhere I would ever go to, except to do a photo shoot of a car or such) venue for a two day "work hard, then relax" business meeting. The business side has been tough with hard words spoken yesterday, no more expected today. HOWEVER....... After work at 4.00pm yesterday this was what I saw coming out of the meeting room. And of course the start and end of days can look like this. Making you feel appreciated for at least a short while. After the meeting we were all ferried over to a field and some woods in two groups for some not so competitive team building (That was a lie, we are always competitive, individually and as sub teams) This was followed by dinner and not a lot of alcohol as I suspect most of us knew we would be digging deep again today. Our "sub-team" who did very well, coming in with the highest scores, the teams were randomly selected, so I just got lucky being with them. Archery Followed by some clay pidgeon shooting. Happy to report that I did well in both events. Not winning in either but in the top scorers group. Back to reality now., but it is almost weekend, and hopefully the 75 miles home do not take me the almost 5 hours it did yesterday after a lorry full of chocolate caught fire, reducing Kent roads to chaos for most of the day. Later guys.

You should be real proud Rian. Money raised for a great cause and for taking so many people along for the ride. Thank you. I still check in every day, repeatedly, in the hope that someone goes in and adds to it. But my work here is done You should be real proud Rian. Money raised for a great cause and for taking so many people along for the ride. And even better, we had to expend no physical effort at all! ๐ My kinda effort too George, but I needed to step up to the plate this time. Just so thankful it came together so well. Got a box of chocolates as well from the boss at the meeting yesterday, virtual choccie to all.

Got a box of chocolates as well from the boss at the meeting yesterday, virtual choccie to all. I hope it wasn't melted and charred! Naaaahhhh. Survived. Insomnia sucks. But it also delivers. (Time) Found three legs on pavement outside my local station. Mickey from next door heard my early morning racket and came to inspect and took the photo. Quick BBQ side table. Or disposable table for University lodgings. EDIT: Got. to Katy's place and second born child claimed table for Uni. First coat of Danish oil applied. Four coats of Danish oil later. Also saw a pic on my FB feed that I like a lot.

Got home last night and found a slim package had been delivered by the post man. Unfortunately no details, and I do not recall anyone saying they would be posting me some very cool Dutch license plates for my collection. Obviously it has to be someone I have shared my postal address with before....... But who?? Please do send me a PM or reply on here. Thank you any way, and the DAF Key is a lovely touch too, considering their origins, despite being sucked up by Volvo at some point. I know Herb in Kansas will like these.

HI mate,
From memory plates starting with a V were for commercial vehicles. They used the B before they run out. So, the Daf key might be a truck key that belongs to the plates. Very nice little gift.
Want an Australian plate?
Cheers

isn't it amazing how the various postal services turn senders tat into recipients wall art???!! And to be honest, my plates are worth much more in postage than real or scrap value. The plates I have sent around the world likewise are worth a lot of postage, yet they really are just scrap. Three UK plates to America is ยฃ12.00 or a bit more And Russia was the same, other parts of the world likewise as the brackets within which parcels are sized are not cheap, whereas bike plates and American plates are cheaper as they can often fit inside a large letter sized parcel. HI mate, From memory plates starting with a V were for commercial vehicles. They used the B before they run out. So, the Daf key might be a truck key that belongs to the plates. Very nice little gift. Want an Australian plate? Cheers PM sent re plates, and thank you very much. ^^ But these plates do not match for only ONE vehicle. You are right. I meant the one with the key Cheers Neither are "alive" anymore anyway (according to the Dutch DVLA equivalent) Thank you for checking. Now we just need to figure who sent the plates over, still amazed at the generosity.

Thank you to FreshandMinty for carrying on and donating to the children's charity even after the ride. The charity is still open and donations continue to trickle in, getting closer to their target. London beckons again today. Looking forward to the weekend as I have Friday off in lieu of working he 1st July. Mini long weekend.

Hi Rain
Posted 3 plates this morning. It's coming on the slow boat between maybe next month and lost for ever.....
One rego plate is a Queensland trailer plate. It's a bit smaller than the standard size. It came of my own trailer. I bought the trailer new about 15 years ago. The trailer was abused for all of it's life and had never been serviced. The last trip was a fully loaded=n one with all sorts of garden waste, general rubbish etc. I knew the "chassis" was broken but gambled that it would hold out it last abuse. It did. I parked it at the tip took the plates of and left it there. (all with permission of course)
The Queensland plate with ... HSA is from a 1990 Corolla Hatchback. The car was abandoned at the side of the road. The council picked it up after some time and I bought it for $1 at the council pre-auction. I had a deal with the council that I had first pick at their car auctions. I had set up a car mechanic course for kids that did not to well in mainstream education. I would pick up kids at local high schools and take them to my garage/shed and work with them for a few hours. Done this for about 3 years and worked with about 5 local high schools. The Corolla came up great and we made a few dollars on it. We bought some tools etc and had a great lunch at McDonalds!!
The last plate came of my Jeep Cherokee V8. I bought it very cheap of an Italian backpacker and sold it to a German pack packer. The car was stock when I bought it. I lifted the suspension, got bigger tyres and played a little with the exhaust to make it a little bit louder. It sounded great, it went well but it never became my car. There was no love at all and I was happy when it went. I send the Italian backpacker the rear number plate you got the front!
I wrapped the lot in the "motoring news" from Saturday's news paper.
Hope you like it all!!
