Track days in a 1.0?

in my experience, exhilarating ! overtaking lots of stuff makes you think like you are winning at track days and that you have a far superior car but there is always a faster car, always !

on the flip side there are those times when theres a car behind you, you are peddling hard, so you think you are "keeping them at bay" with your prowess and massive double digit torque figures, when they are actually driving at 6/10ths and adhering to track day policy of waiting for slower car to yield and or not overtaking on corners.

my advice would be to just keep an eye on the rear views, if the car behind is not going away after a couple of corners just pull over to correct side of track on the straights and wave them by, indicate, everyone is happy. if the theory in first part of paragraph 2 does play out and you are similar speeds, then you get to be chase car which is way more fun anyway

I'd say do it. Had loads of fun over the years in sub 100 bhp cars. Mates 1.0ax on super skinny tyres ex Mrs 1.0 yaris.  Other mates 1.3 rallye 106. All good fun driving them on the limit. 
Flip side my old mk4 r32 turbo golf had 552bhp although amazing fun.  There was no room for error a them speeds. And it sounds daft it wasn't as much fun.

Only ever done curbourgh in the wife's 1.9 205 but I've read up on others and there big on noise somewhere between 95 and 100db.
Overtaking on the straights only and usually to one designated side.  

Pop down have a gander get the enthusiasm and book the next one and have fun. 

You will also need a helmet

You will learn quite a bit.

You will soon learn that power is not everything on track. It's a balance of the lot, but driver skill comes out on top.

I know that when I had tuition at Cadwell I was faster as well as being easier on the brakes .

That and in a small relatively inexpensive car you have less to lose! I know that while I will love driving my M3 around the 'ring there will be an air of doubt. Sure, that air went a little at Silverstone but it is there.

The issue is alot of people think because it's upgraded it must be better. Yes, upgrades can work but they have to be done right.

The most fun I've had on track recently was in my old Clio 172 which was stock throughout bar having the Cup wheels (lower offset and lighter, that's about it). I however made a mistake on the first trackday I took it out on ; I let past a Mercedes E63 W210 and a Sierra Cosworth which was lowered and on big brakes at Castle Combe. It went like the following:

-They went quickly in the straights, quicker than me obviously with more than a 100BHP gulf
-On long sweeping bends I started to reel them in. They just kept 'hopping' around the bend
-Corners were where I realised my mistake ; Without them in the way I could have gone through the corners alot faster. In the end I was practically smoking a Cuban cigar in one hand while driving through the bends and following them. Suffice to say I was slowed down for quite a few laps until I took a bit of a breather. After all, there was no chance I would overtake them on the straights with such a power deficit (100BHP+ I reckon for each of them).

Even in my current car I still got held up by a newer RS4 in the bends at Silverstone and with 100BHP more than I had at my disposal: I've just put in one part to illustrate the point, don't bother watching all of it!

I backed off as I felt it was unfair to the 3 people behind me! Not in the spirit of things but if someone is quicker overall I'll let them past. It's that simple:
