£3-400 will net one, which you'all get most back breaking it
That or you could stick some cheap 18s on, drop it then charge nearer £3k ;p

Have i just read that right, someone is asking about building a Landrover Hotrod based on a P4 chassis, and not one person has made mention of Bruces Landrover??!!??!!?? Honestly this place sometimes  Er... All within 45 minutes of the thread starting: what's the worst than can happen right? You sink a lot of time, money and effort into a 'rat rod' which looks awful due to the proportions, then put more time, money and effort into fitting a front end on it... And then realising that it just looks like you're copying That Land Rover. *n As far as copying "That Land Rover" goes I'd be lying if I said it didn't inspire me, but hey, if every modified car had to be 100% unique it'd be a very small community indeed! yeah the no wings wouldn't look great I doubt, its just too square and boxy to work. otherwise, look up this one, its pretty much exactly what you describe. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/125964/'THAT' Land Rover: Photobombed by a hobo. Yeah That Land Rovers been mentioned a fair bit  may be worth me trying to get in touch with whoever built it just to see how they modified the body mounts, don't suppose the original builder is on here? |

Well, if we have established that a P4 chassis isn't a straight swap with a LARO chassis. Then a P4 swap requires as much work as any other chassis, right? So why not look at a Reliant Scimitar or TVR frame? A bit more expensive outright although, I recon a P4 chassis modified with engine, gearbox and rear axle (didn't that Land-Rover use a Discovery axle?) will not be the bargain it might be in the first place. And it will take a fair bit of time as well and it is not like you can throw the body on in a blink of an eye.  Imagine that with a Land-Rover body cornering flat with the rumbling rover v8... |

There's certainly an argument to be had for using the rover V8, going for the rat rod style in all, but I've already had a V8 in my life, next on the list is a dirty diesel! |

Good Morning. An interesting idea............I have a rolling P4 chassis (and P4 floor/bulkhead and boot section (and V% with a non-transferable/historic 4 number two letter registration number that is in a lock up that I was going to build a special from. It may be for sale as it's just sitting there and may be ideal for this project in Wiltshire (Chippenham area). Respond or send me a PM if interested.Andy

First up, the P4 chassis is quite different to the Land Rover one.  Which is in turn quite different to a Jeep one. I will note the IIA chassis in the picture is missing a bulkhead outrigger.  The P4 chassis is low and flat in the middle and the engine is quite forward. Compared to a TVR chassis which has a spine and alsmot central mounted engine, the P4 is a way better candidate. If you look at "that" landrover (I really dislike calling it that...) you can see the footwell floor is low to the ground as well. The bulkhead is a bit longer than a normal series one and I suspect a lot different in the trans tunnel area. As I've mentioned, I've previously thought about a 109 on a P4 chassis, you could stretch the body 2" in the bulkhead and it would drop straight on. Or jiggle the wheel position in the arch to take up the difference... There will be fabrication of mounts and cutting and shutting required as with any rebody project, but this has got to be about as simple as it gets. My suggestion - get on with it! |

My thoughts exactly, just need to find a good place to build it now (anyone want to give me barn space / a 40ft container?), I'm back from work on the 15th so after that it'll be time to find a cheap P4 80 chassis / rotting car.
As for the offer of picking one up in chippenham it's unfortunately a bit far for me, but thanks all the same. Incidentally there is a house in my town that has three out the front of it, all in various states of disrepair, might go and hassle him until he sells me one.

I drive past this house every morning, something about the place tells me you won't have much luck! Worth a try for sure though...
