I've been cruising in this all summer with no problems .....apart from running out of fuel ( no fuel gauge) annoyingly I hadn't connected up the fuel reserve lever so I had to pull the tank out by the side of the road and move the tap by hand ...got me going though. I also had enough of the dreadful seat covers ,they got really uncomfortable and I can't afford to get them recovered so did the right thing and went all "scene" and made some from coffee sacks .. It's way more comfortable and is nearly cool !! A week or so ago I took it caffeine and machine to their acas night (air-cooled appreciation society) which happened to be their 3 birthday and some sort of Porsche night ( Tuthill Porsche had a few cars there) . I got there quite early so had a prime parking spot right in amongst it ....I felt a little out of my league. It was the oldest car there by miles, there must have been 50 911's there, I was between a pair of RS's !!! It was also the first time I've driven it in the dark ....the lights are abysmal .You know your lights are bad when you can see your owns cars shadow from the dipped lights of the car behind !!

Last update Nov 21 !! Not a vast amount happened except driving it .... It's never had any door cards or door seals which means it always been a bit noisy and drafty . The main reason I didn't fit the door seals ( I've had them in stock for over 6+ year !) was the inner doors didn't get epoxy promed when we did the outside .The inside of the doors just had 10 year old etch which had browned up a little in places ...no point in gluing seals to that . Over christmas I pulled the door off the primed them properly ( I had to get the Daily poison Mail news papers from my dad - deffo not mine!! ) . When I came to do it I thought I had everything to finish and was about to mix the paint and realized I didn't have a mask ....gutted, no where was open either . Light bulb moment though!!! Like any normal weirdo I have a small collection of mostly eastern block military gas Masks .... It was better than any normal painting mask I ever used !! The epoxy took ages to cure enough to put them back together but after a week or so I stuck then back on with a little more care than last time ..with a few more nuts and bolts The primer still wasn't hard enough for seal glueing so I started on the door cards.

So doorcards, I'm not in a position to pay for super fancy proper lowlight ghia trimmed doorcards but I still wanted something to stop the draughts and cut the noise a bit . Blank cards cards are availage in the UK for about £140 but they weren't available for a couple of months so I took a gamble on a set on ebay from Slovakia ....They are excellent !! Perfect shape, great shipping, and little cheaper than the UK ones . I spent a week giving them a few coats of polyurethane primer before deciding what to do with them It crossed my mind to go full coffee sack covering but decided it was a bit coffee sack overload.. I'm only really usng them as "temp" covers . I'd rather go for the unfinished look than full Coffee sack chic I did use a bit of sack for the door pockets though ...I think they came out ok !! There a sort of loop strap on the back that hooks on to the door that was 7 quid online ...curse word that ! I knocked some up with a hammer and vice and a bit of scrap. The armrest/handle were left over from the beetle build and are wrong for a Ghia but will be fine until I win the lottery and can afford pro built trimmed door cards!! The chrome door trim strips are obviously rare and over priced and I had a few spare bit of exterior trim kicking about So I cut them to length and "fixed" some bolts into them (hot glue gun ) and bolted them on ....again I think they look ok ....no-one apart from the rivet counters would ever know !!
