I have a perfectly decent Mk3 Cortina So why am I even considering bidding on this piece of old tat on eBay? In what possible way would crowding my drive with another old beat up car I don't actually need do me any favours at all? Why?

I agree, tis a disease, 1 that even a wife/girlfriend can't cure. Fleabay just makes it worse! like someone said on here(can't remember who) like waving white lightning at a tramp! If there's any kind of space round the house/garage/drive I feel that it needs filling with car/car parts/old tat.

It is a disease. And a virulent one at that...
I would like a good 20v engine for my Audi, sometime in the future. So WHY am I intently watching a whole slightly knackered sounding car on Ebay?

I totally agree, especially based on my current situation...
I came to RRS in Mondeo, the only car I have which I was sure would get me there and back.
I have no space. I have no time. I have no money. I have more cars than I need. I can not weld. I'm not all that good at anything else car-related which doesn't involve Sierras. I only drive 7k miles a year. I know nothing about A series engines.
Why T.F. am I sitting here wondering how much to offer my bro's mate for an A30 with no engine which needs some welding?
So, yes AK, it's a disease, probably incurable and potentially terminal, judging by Mrs JS's reaction to my current A30-related thoughts. ;D

Yep, its a disease alright. My E28 BMW is taking all my time and money at the mo, but to be fair to it, its reliable transport as well.
So why am I trying to win old Jags from eBay then? Cos I want one! ;D

Its a chronic disease, this morning I've heard of a '1 little old lady owner' Fiat 850 for sale, an orange Fiat 127 (Sport??) languishing in a garden and a LHD W115 Merc 220D parked up/for sale?. A mortgage and a 'no more curse word cars' wife help control the urges to buy buy buy!! Now if I flog the Triumph 2000( that'd pay for 850) and get my brother to go halves on the 127....

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Its not a case of are you gonna drive it or the old chestnut "where are you going to park it" Its what makes you happy! (well me anyway)
If I had to find a reason for buying every old car ive bought I wouldnt have bought any of them.

Why T.F. am I sitting here wondering how much to offer my bro's mate for an A30 with no engine which needs some welding? Please don't make brief comments like that about an A30! It makes me come over all funny and start dreaming again. You're infecting me with the disease!

Pink Cortina...? Nothing a good coat of satin black won't cure! Buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it.... ;D Cars, parts, car tat is a disease. I found the only cure is the loss of your workshop. Limits you to one (or two ) functioning, road legal cars. Which sucks. As we all know, cars are best enjoyed when they're in bits all over the garage floor.

Yep, I'm well and truly infected. Although I've been a very good boy recently, with only ONE car to my name for at least... six months! I have no space or money for any more, so the decision is kind of made for me at the moment.
But I know I'll find myself boshing a last minute bid on a car I don't need and can't afford in the near future! You can't escape it! ;D
Pink Mk3 Cortina?! How can you NOT buy that?!

We all know old cars multiply. Know matter how rare they might be. Commit yourself to one & suddenly better, cheaper & or somehow more desirable or irresistable examples suddenly appear out of thin air !
