Went to a local Cars and Coffee yesterday and someone took a nice picture of the car as I was leaving. The only outing for the GSi this year now will be for a small bit of welding later this month and then the MOT. After that it will be in the garage and I can crack on with a few jobs that I have planned for this winter.

Hoping to give the GSi a bit more poke over the winter, bought myself a Mantzel powerbox / inlet. Various powerboxes are available but the Mantzel seems to give the best gains with the fewest problems. All being well, gains of 15bhp - 20bhp can be had! Will be cleaned up and powdercoated in colour (unsure what colour yet) before it is fitted

Sick of people asking why that and not a redtop/Saab lump, as you've probably found out they're awesome little engines

I'm breaking my Corsa at the moment so if you want an Evil Audi/Hannibal face?
I'll understand if you pass. Looks mint.

Tidying up of the Mantzel powerbox is nearly complete. Painted in VHT wrinkle paint, pretty easy to use and I do like the finish, quite unusual and the fact that it hides all the imperfections in the metal is a nice bonus Planning on removing the paint from the lettering and polishing up.

Decided on the coldest week of the year to get busy in the garage fitting the powerbox, so far so good. Almost done, waiting on some vac hose to come this week and then hopefully it will be running, also have a short shift to fit, had one on my old one and it really improves gear change feel. Want this MOT'd and back on the road by the end of the month.

Finished the powerbox install last week and gave it a short run yesterday to confirm everything is ok, all seemed fine so ready for the MOT on Tuesday. It's not been out the garage since October and it's not the cleanest of areas so it was nice to get it out and give it a clean, comes up well. Wheels have been refurbished and just waiting on replacement badges for the centre caps and they will be back on. Once it's MOT'd i'll be fitting quick shift and a 4-2-1 manifold.

MOT passed today so I'll tax it on the first then I can be out and about in it. The Mantzel inlet certainly seems to open up the throttle nicely, just keeps pulling now

Beautiful example that bud! Do love a good GSi and it's great to see one in this condition - speedlines are a classic touch as well. Great news on the MOT pass also, unfortunately I can't say the same for my B....was scrapped yesterday be good to see this at a future show!

Shame about your b, sadly rust is always an ongoing problem for a Corsa owner 😬 I'll be doing a few shows this year hopefully.

Taxed and been out for it's first proper drive of the year. Runs very well with the inlet upgrade, looking forward to getting on with the 421 mani fitting.

I’ve never been a big corsa lover, but I did once own an early 8v SRi and I remember it was a right laugh. These used to be everywhere for £500, you just don’t see them anymore. Keep up the good work and nice to see a fairly original looking one
