I have looked the the Z3 kit, it does look nice but is more expensive. Indeed I find many people have never heard of the construction and use laws, the points rules etc. Even with not cutting the chassis you still have to have a fair few totally original parts to get 8 or more. But, there are so many cars running around with less and not all are on the radar... Yet. I've spoken to quite a few mot testers and even a friend who is Derbyshire traffic police, none of them understood the 8 point system.... as long as it's insured right you'll be fine was the answer I got! Building within the rules is a much better idea though. I wonder why this guy is selling? 35K and its still registered as a 1275 Metro! That'll have been iva tested then, I think not. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cosworth-YB-powered-rear-engined-MG-Metro-6r4-replica/202225362101?hash=item2f159224b5:g:ldkAAOSwm0JagBk7Agrees on the Agreed on the points - also if you change nothing except a notch in the chassis/monocoque it's an instant IVA - any chassis mod is an IVA regardless. 99% of these will never be seen or detected, but if you do have an accident..... you're in the curse word I was looking at that Metro - it's awesome. Defo needs an IVA though!

how much is this 3d printing lark? I'm curious as I need some viva GT bonnet vents and they don't seem to be any for sale ...ever. Saying that though, i'd need an original pair to make the copies from and they would need 3d scanning if possible. I don't have any to scan obviously and I doubt anyone will lend me a pair. Unless there's a 3d modeller out there who'd make some up in cad. sorry to hi-jack the thread somewhat...awesome work by the way

The prints that I have used would cost in the region of £1500 to buy - luckily I own the company so I can get them done pretty cheaply! Saying that, the smaller parts are really cheap - the surround for the gear gator is about £8. It's the big bulky things that cost a lot. Keep them small and they'll be affordable! For the vents, I'd find someone who has some, 'borrow' them and make a fibreglass mould. Either that or make a wooden replica to make mould from. Thanks for all the kind words to everyone else too!

So making a wooden one to make a cast from is probably the best bet...I've got a hell of a lot more important things to do on the car before the cosmetics can be started, you never know, i might stumble across a set someday

If you know what you want I could draw some up for you, as stated though there are size limits. Back on topic, I'm loving your work and must admit to browsing for mr2s... I've had a mk1 and mk2 so need to complete the set really.. Can't wait to see it on the move

Those 2zz are good engines and make decent power for a n/a 1800. I’ve got a Celica GT with one and and they really take off at 6200rpm. Not that i ever get up there...

These look good - a good chroming place is Platinum Chrome in Kent - they do a really good spray chrome that looks spot on.

Just had delivered the missing parts to get the car drivable - gearbox bolts, engine mount bolts and a bracket to hold the drive shaft so... I should have the car out of the garage in the upcoming weeks. That means body! Finally! I know it's early, but I've been playing round with a design for the livery in my free time. I really want to give it a modern/contemporary twist but with a hat tip to the original look. I've always loved the urban camo look and love the blue and grey striped original livery so have come up with this A combination of: With modern urban camo: To make this: I think it captures both the looks I want to go for well and WAY MORE IMPORTANTLY it will mask what I'm sure is going to be some gnarly panel gaps! There will be 3 tones of grey with the features in a textured black (vents, grilles etc).

Personally I'd probably go for one or the other rather than combine the two. But I am wondering what your design would look like in the blues rather than the greys.
Good work though, keep it up!

I know this would be radical but how about these colours and pattern, called Berlin Urban camo used buy the Royal Army on the Chieftain & on the Challengers.
Or this used by The Royal Jordanian Army.
