Jaycee do them. I never bothered in my race car, just went for urethane ones well greased. I remember Paul Woodhead having stock ones on his race car for A-framing the car down from South Yorks and then bolting the bronze bushed ones on when he got to the Pod. He said that he'd been told that the bronze ones wouldn't stand up to repeated street miles. Like I said, I never used them so just passing on an anecdote. only just saw your reply. As mentioned, I ran mine on the street with no issues but I cant have put more than 1500 miles on them before I sold it. I always assumed they would wear quicker but I don't know how long they could be expected to last. If they are worth it or not depends how you drive it. I drove mine hard. If id had to put a set a year on it I would have. They expensive ?

Cant remember exactly but think I paid £55, might have been £75.
Cant remember why I didnt try urethane, I think I just thought id sort it once and for all.
Unless your doing lots of hard launches and hammering the gearchanges I wouldnt worry too much unless it becomes a problem. As I say, I drove mine hard 100% of the time and wheel hop used to drive me mad so the bronze bushes were perfect.

I drive digital throttle and will be on boost at all times.
That said... My adjustable spring plates will not work with them anyway.

Well, after the splurge of activity this week that has fallen to the previous page, I took the beam back off today to be sent to the blasters on Saturday.
SO tempted to trial fit the body to the chassis!!!

I'm gonna make a set. All it is, is a bit of alu plate and a bronze bearing. Piece of peepee!

Yep, I would. I didn't own a lathe back then though. I seem to remember the bronze piece was like a top hat bush, press fitted into the alloy plate from the inside so it cant fall out.
Once you get the hang of building boost before dumping the clutch (or fit launch control) you'll be glad of these bushes.

Trouble is being drawthrough it won't build boost till its on load so means eating clutches!

Same with blowthrough but you can do it quickly without having to slip for long at all, you need to sort of slip untill it just tips over then dump and floor and it will boost off the line. What clutch are you running? I kept mine stock at first but it slipped.

So I'm gonna make a set of those sintered bronze retainers at some point. In the meantime... Welded in the new rear body mount... Tacktacktack... Buzzbuzzbuzzfizzlesizzlebuzzbashbashbash... That'll do. Cut the luggage area free Some may be wondering why (or not?). But its cos it needs to shift outta the way for the 2.5" gearbox raise, so when I drop the body on, wherever it sits is where it gets welded back (master plan of not tying in the luggage area to the rear inner arches yet now revealed!). Drilled some holes to make my naps hat RHD so I can fit the master cylinder and pedals on the right side of the car... You can also see got the beam back from the blasters but had to bolt it on for now as a temp measure cos I need to move the chassis about. Will take it off again to paint it later (or, more likely, be lazy and paint it in situ... ) Started plumbing in brake lines too... Next job is to drop the body on temporarily to make sure everything lines up, make a pedal floor brace to fit the pedals, and need to order me some longerer handbrake cables (I don't have a longerator tool, only a delongerator, so these are gonna have to be made for me...) I need to start thinking properly about the bench seat too... And the interior generally. It's coming together now, and so the details I've been shoving to the back of my mind are starting to creep forward... Does anyone have, perchance, an oxblood chesterfield sofa they want rid of?

Dave, have you thought about bus handbrake cables? They'd be longer and I'd guess a similar end?

No good, needs to have a different end for the handbrake lever on the caliper.

So wind a bolt through the threaded block and it pushes on the other block to set suspension height. That'll do.

Got the body on. Bonnet is on. Quite like the new decorations left by the birdies in the unit. Gearbox is much higher now. Best cut the bulkhead... Buzz buzz buzz cut cut cut... That's better.

Offered the engine up too. Looks alright. That'll do. Comparison of engine height pre and post gearbox lift: Before: After: That'll do.
