Well, thought I would stick a couple of pics up of my roof chopped turbocharged Volksrod... She is currently in bits, going through a major body-off chassis resto and a few modifications (mostly raising the trans by a couple of inches and moving the handbrake to make space for a bench seat. Oh and sorting out the front end angle to reduce the castor). Anyway, this is her, photos taken on my wedding day: Garret T3 sucking through a Dellorto carb, 1600 air cooled with different heads, pistons, larger flywheel and clutch, forged internals and a turbo cam. Thought you might like it! (And yes, that keg is the fuel tank).

Now that is a bucket load of awesome! Would love to read a build thread and any chance of a video as I bet it sounds great! Love the keg BTW!

Ok... Build thread. I'll just stick it in here. So, this is what I started with: The engine spec: stock 1600 stroke and bore with forged pistons & con rods Engle ts20 turbo cam straight cut gears John Maher Racing ported polished heads stainless valves, double valve springs bottom end lightened and balanced 8 dowel crank 009 Bosch distributor with max advance limited dellorto dhla 40 sidedraft garret t3 turbocharger converted to carbon shaft seal So... I always wanted to build a Volksrod. So, out with the chop saw... Chopchopchop... And slapped a framehead extension on there. Beat her ass with the lowering stick for good measure...

Hmm... Needs quarterlights... Buzzybuzzychoppychoppyweld... Ta-da! Bonnet is fouling the steering box though... Chopchopchop... That's better! Some close ups of the technical bits like pillars and stuff... The quarters needed to be extended to cover the running board attachy-bits... And the doors too obviously... And the seatbelt anchors had to go...

Wheels look gash. Who likes Empi 5's or Empi 8's? Child molesters, probably. In the skip. Banded and smoothed steelies is where it's at. Widened to 10" at the rear, narrowed to 3" at the front and smoothed out... Got stock wheels... Chopchopchop, bashbashbash... That'll do. What about colour? Red ones go faster, right? Needs rubber... And hub caps... There we go, that'll do.

Well. I will add more photos when the photo thing decides it wants to work. But I painted it. Then painted it a bit more. Then I mucked around with the brakes. And then put some bits on it and then it looked like the first pics.
Any questions?

That's awesome....
Building a fugitive with my son, we had decided to go for more of a rod look with the wheels (not the all terrains on it) I thought it needed big on the back, and thought 10", but thought it would need 5" or something on the front to look balanced. But I'm wrong..... your wheels look spot on, the rest does too btw :-)
