Hi I'm from Melbouirne Australia and am building a Commer PB van. They were made by the Rootes group who were bought out by Chrysler in the 60's. In the US they were known as the guys who manufactures the Sunbeam Tiger until they couldnt use the Small block Ford. Anyway. I have had the van for years and have slowly been modifying it. Hopefully will be done within 12 months. I am putting it on airbags and using a Toyota 3RZFE 2.7L and auto from a Toyota Hilux To get it on the ground ive raised the front crossmember 7in and made big chassis arches and 4 linked the rear. Thanks Brad

WOW!!! Excellent work. I know many people say these are a horrible van and personally I've never driven one, so can't really comment. But, I love them and I hope to have one myself one day.
Keep up the great work.

As a young child I toured with my grandparents all around Scotland and England every summer holiday in one of these, it was the "dormobile" version with extendable roof, bunks, kitchen etc. Fairly noisy yoke if I remember correctly as the engine resided under the middle seat in the front and there wasn't much in the way of soundproofing. I believe the original engine was a 1.7L 4 cylinder that was way underpowered, not sure if it was good for much more than 60 mph flat out. Quite rare now as most dissolved years ago, often toyed with the idea of tracking one down and resto-moding it. I reckon you could get a VAG TDI engine in that engine bay no problem.... Crack On ! Bookmarked !
