in the short term , just to make it look a bit less abandoned , why not get some paint (any paint) on it? even just a quick roller applied job in one colour to make it at least look a little more cared for and road worthy? I got paint but i don't have the time to do it, just one more week of school and then i can work on the car every day at almost any hour... But for now the clean windows should do the trick.

ideal. empty out all the crud from the inside , clean up the dash and throw a dose of shiny shiny on all the interior and exterior trims and you will make a 100% improvement to the look of the old thing! those front seats look mighty comfy.

I took out all of those bottles after i took the picture. Those seats are the second most comfy seats i've ever sat on, the first are from a pegaso 1234.

what are the legalities of parking a car on the public highway in your part of the world? I only know that there are some streets where you can't park a car and they are marked with a sign like this. Which means something like "do not park here"

perhaps spend a little time researching in more detail where you can and can't leave your car , at least you will have peace of mind knowing the relevant traffic law.

not sure what products are available to you but you will need to go over them first with a very lightly abrasive cutting compound (I use 3m finesse it) , then a decent polish (autoglym super resin polish , which is still very very slightly abrasive) then if you are really keen a top coat of wax/silicon polish to keep uv & weather at bay.

The less abrasive thing i have is p 600 sand paper

noooooooooooo... too coarse! you only need to use polishes , unless you have access to very fine production paper 1500g or finer. if you cant obtain any proper automotive cutting & polishing liquids you could try some household abrasive cream cleaner (go very gently and maybe a small area underneath the lens where it wont be seen). wash off with clean water after.

What about one of these sponges?

never tried one but I doubt it'll do much. you really need a slightly abrasive liquid and a soft cloth (washed out old t shirts are perfect). do you have any metal polish.... at a push you could try a toothpaste? the very fine "cut" is what you want to remove the surface oxidation without scratching the plastic too deeply.

That sponge will scratch no doubt. Using a used one will scratch less, but strikey is right: use compounds with very fine abrasives. But even then, looks like you'll never be able to restore them both to the same colours. I'm sceptical at the very least. Although I've been pleasantly surprised before. On the Granada lenses it's not only the plastic that discolours, it's also the paint on the inside that flakes off... Good luck, but if you do try, use the proper stuff, even if you have to buy some!
