Just bought a turbo engine so little willie is going legit , saw this Hustler on eBay listed with a metro turbo engine so bought it of a really nice bloke called Peter who also kindly delivered it all the way from Essex. It ran mint so hopefully after a good clean and service should go straight in mine. Also I’ve sold the Hustler to a mate who has a few cars on here so this should be an interesting project. Also doing a bit of painting in the engine bay, won’t be mint but will be presentable.
Good news, the metro is up and running, after a lot of messing around with the fuel pump, had to go back to using the old one which worked straight away,Still got a couple of jobs to do like engine flush as it chucked loads of petrol in when trying to sort fuelling out, also gonna give it a coolant flush and wire the fuel pump into the relay as only had it wired straight to the battery for first time starting it. Also one of the core plugs was slightly leaking so got some on order. Also just want to give my mate Tom a massive shoutout for all his help, wouldn’t of got it done without his help and knowledge.
Well good news as such, I started the metro today and started on the first turn of the key with no choke needed, it ran really smooth and revs really nice until it got to temperature after this it cut out and wouldn’t start again. I’m hoping it’s a fuelling issue as the plugs were black and you could smell fuel. I’m thinking that’s why I didn’t need the choke and it started after being stood. I won’t be able to check now until Saturday as I’m in work. Any advice would be grateful.
