so, say i HYPOTHETICALLY wanted to fit a flamer kit so the lads down maccy's would be impressed, what would i need? is it as simple as coil, ht lead and spark plug, or is some kind of module required? theres no worries about it sparking all the time or should it be sparking only on the overrun or anything? *sorry*

can you not just whack a spark plug in the exhaust and hook it up to a power supply?

Yeah but you need to make one spark miss fire to get the fuel down the exhaust. Hence most 'kits' have a switch inside.
p.s. they are beyond gash and if you fit one you need to be ostrecised from the community ;D

yeah don't they cut spark to a cylinder so the fuel spits out the back and then spark the plug in the exhaust momentarily after to ignite it? all wired in together?
never really looked into it tbh. Mine pops and bangs like a good'un, sure I don't need one. Can look cool IMO but only as a show piece

Thing is it's usually just a lick of flame that comes out, or at least the ones i've seen.
p.s. the plod will not look kindly on it either.

i'm overfuelling anyway and its a purely environmentally friendly exercise to prevent fuel wastage! the timings very slightly out and it pops and bangs when on a hot overrun, but not enough just wondered what to do with it. perhaps a larger bore exhaust would be better?

Oh dear - spitting flames out the back cos its running anti lag or the fuel cut off on an injection car is one thing but flammer kist are just lame

next you'll be asking how to fit kingdom bumpers, neons and chrome toss wheels if you must, then do it properly- model T trembler coil (also fitted to tractors) and a bottle of liquified propane*. watch out for spectators behind. * I do not recommend this to anyone and its f$$$ing dangerous! however; 15 meter flame outs make the maccyD crowd look even lamer than they already are. can't find any pics to prove it, but it was quite popular with the rockabilly-rodder crowd some years back in the US. kinda "rebel without a clue".

ol' skool customs used to have them on back in the day. can look kinda cool in a suitable V8 engine rockin away, smoking the back tyres out of the drive in theater in your '49 Mercury sled.
I'd like to guess anything made this side of the Atlantic in the last 30 years will look gasho though.

i'm sure some jet engine out of some flyin' machine hooked up to some deuce coupe would look dingly dangly and shoot anyone down in flames who said that, erm...flames looked naff exitin a motor.....
but jet engine vs spark plug kit....lololol
ive seen a jet engine trike at some bike rallye...may have been the bullydog bash..can't remember, but as i recall it's road legal!!!!...but not if u switch the afterburner on..lol

how can I you've started a thread about it ;D I think I said this last time one was mentioned - there is a 205 GTi roud here with one on and his rear bumper is just melted away - it doesn't shoot flames - just sort of wafts them gently out and the hot air rises........ Looks chuffin silly!!

Looks chuffin silly!! dunno, try *reallllly* hard. like squeezin your eyes shut and all?! i just want it to pop better. i wasn't thinking of getting flames out, i was hoping more along the lines of exploding the unburnt excess with added pops and bangs. agreed its odd from an N/A engine but its already there...just wanted to enhance it.

Think the 'chav-spec' kits actually have butane or propane or something piped into the exhaust TBH.
Spark-plugs in the zorst to light overrun fuel is barely ok in my book. Butane kits are pure carp!
