And I finally, finally, finally wired the lights today... Plus a couple of wall sockets. I have three 220V sources in there now. So plenty enough to wire in additional lights & sockets on a later date. I routed all the wiring so that I can do this easily later on. And you would not believe how many times I walked down the stairs into the basement, walked back up - only to find what fuse powers which wire (there were a couple of wires pre-installed on the wall, but no clue left as to what fuse/part of the house they go to). Anyway, it all worked out. I've got light! There's a LOT more light available now than before I'm especially happy with the illumination of the work bench. That's all... Cheers, Jan

I have those lights too. I have 8 in my 8mx4m workshop. Think they were £2 each of ebay!

They are fantastically cheap to get hold of, now that companies fit LED lighting... I payed 1€ for this load: Apparently they cost 2500 new. I gave most of them away, just kept a few. Now I'd like to have 1 more to hang, but I'm sure I'm not going to pay a lot...

That is a good deal!
I also bought more than I needed just for spare tubes.

you can get retrofit LED that go in most units, havent looked at those specifically.
the LED units they are fitting now instead of those are fantastic, not a clue on the cost however.

My friend is trying some led in his unit. Big high 40' ceilings with those huge halide pendants. Expensive stuff. The LED however are very good, unfortunately there are about 15 so they are getting replaced as they break.
LED tech is much better than they were.

Sooo - this was literally my first try at casting something. I didn't expect it to go this well, else I had maybe spent a bit more effort for the prep-work. But... Wow! I'm amazed at how well this turned out. New key fob Since I expected a failure, I didn't take any more pictures... Next time Cheers, Jan

Thanks! I did some more aloominum casting, but I can't show it yet And since Mr @johnnybravo mentioned my obvious lack of hammers, someone gave this lot to me, for free: Most of them need new handles, but that's neither expensive nor hard to do. And see those wire cuters on top? The little one appears to be hand-forged, it's that old. I told my good samaritan to give the stuff to me, as he was about to throw it away. Can you believe it? Thrown away tools realy wind me up... You just can't do that! I have 6 1/4 and 1/2" ratchets, only 2 I bought. The others are rescued from work's scrap bin. And only needed minor repairs (mostly a good clean, dab of oil and some bolts) and they work flawless again. That's all. I hope I can show my newest cast soon. It's a present and I'm not sure if I'm being monitored here Cheers, Jan

So, this is my 2nd cast. Turned the little brass bit on the lathe, filed two flats, drilled a hole. Gave it a good polish - et voilá. Another key fob. Not perfect, but I'm amazed that even the thread is so detailed. I filed off most of the parting line. This was a present, but I think I'm going to make another one for myself. Should I find the time... Cheers, Jan

I finally tested if my TIG welder had survived the water damage... Had to made two little tabs. I decided to weld them from some stainless bits. And surprisingly, I'm still not a good TIG welder. I should use this machine way more often. But in reality - I've barely used it since buying it. Tabs have been glued on the back of what's going to be another bit of garage furniture to hang on a wall. And I rescued a rattle gun from work. Only a stuck valve, that was all that was wrong with it. It was once rescued from a Toyota stealership's trash bin, now I've rescued it again. Old, totally beaten up - but the internals look superb! That's all for now. Cheers, Jan

Love the setup. Ive always fancied having a go at casting things. I'd love to cast a proper old-school set of brass knuckles.....purely as a key ring of course.

It's turning into quite a mission to fix that old barstuart of engine hoist... Plot twist; it wasn't the hoist that leaked. It was the blöödy bottle of oil I stored on it's base. The bottle to with old oil I used to fill it up. I noticed that my work bench had started leaking oil when I accidentally left the bottle on it for a couple of weeks. Duuuuuuuh. Just so you know! And I bought more hammers. High quality, made in germany - never used. 30€. Awesome!

Your tig welding is quite good and more than enough for the job you needed it for .
If you wanted it to be stronger it would need a little more wire so the welds are more convex or fuller !
