Seeing as it got a lot more attention than I ever imagined at The Gathering I thought I would post some pics and info up on here. Picked it up locally from an old couple for a song , full service history 1.9td with only 120 thou, needed brakes and a washer pump for the mot other than that no problems. Decided to see if I could get the Dimma wheels on so first job was getting lows which turned into a nitemare. Had to take the rear beam off as the bars were stuck solid! Rolled the rear arches with a heat gun an arch roller and lots of patience turned out well in the end, front springs from a 205 coilovers or possibly air on the horizon to get the front down a bit more. Laquer peal was bad in the roof and bonnet, so rubbed it down and sprayed some base coat on. To be honest I quite like the Matt look so may stay. Future plans more lows and tidy the bodywork up a bit more. Big thanks to Kev from Wales for the help with the axle and tyre swapping!

Front looks mint! I'd lift the back an inch and it'll be fine, you'll be able to use it as an estate too Still got those 106 steelies?

Really liked this and got some pics but was too busy being rained upon or hiding from stalker Mr Blobby to have a chat.
We all reckoned it would look ace two tone to match the front bumper.

Do the 205 coilovers bolt on then?
I've had one of these for over a year now. Its pretty much the same but it's been run into the ground, is lucas pump and has all sorts of electrical gremlins. I got hold of a bosch pump version in better nick to use instead. Bought some 207 steels to band then a few days later some guy posts pictures of a green 405 estate on banded 207 steels lol.. Canned that idea and was thinking of these instead.. Now that ideas out the window too lol.. Must be somthing else on there! Doesn't really matter right now anyway tbh as after a few weeks of driving the bosch one the engine mount came adrift and its now sitting needing attention I don't have time to give it!
Good to see more 405s getting the love tho. One of the best 90s estates there is.

They are very underrated mate, mines a Lucas pump but touch wood so far I have had no problems . 306 coilovers fit you have to mod the antiroll bar link and use the 405 top mounts. I'm looking into air for the front at the mo , should be on in the next few weeks, don't want to slam it completely, and make it uncomfortable. So going to try and fabricate air struts on a tight budget !
