A classically elegant Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet with only 54,962 miles.
EQUIPMENT
Thermo plastic front and rear body panels, smooth underbody floor panels, bonded windscreen, impact absorbing bumpers, hot zinc-dipped galvanised body, door intrusion bars, electrically operated hood, retractable spoiler, electric front seats, folding rear seats, remote central locking, adjustable headlamps, heated door mirrors and washer jets, 8-speaker sound system, analogue clock, automatic heating control. Factory options; 2 speakers on rear shelf, amplifier system.
EXTERIOR
The purity of the classic 911 body finished in Silver Metallic, Silbermetallic, (Code L980), is simply unmistakable and presents with a deep polished lustre. The electrically operated soft-top is unmarked with a clear rear screen and factory tonneau cover. The Paragon Porsche number plates front and rear remain affixed from when the car was sold as a Porsche Approved vehicle in 1999 and correct Bosch headlamps remain fitted. Wheel arch apertures are spotlessly clean and even the fuel cap still has the warning stickers. A tiny mark to the passenger door sill does not detract from the overall impressive appearance of this sleek thoroughbred.
INTERIOR
This 964 Cabriolet is finished in optional soft look Black Ruffled Leather, (Code VN), and being largely hand assembled possesses a quality feel with meticulous attention to detail. The anatomically correct front seats show natural creases but no wear or colour fade and genuine Porsche indented velour floor mats, as with all other trim, are spotless. Large backlit dials all function correctly and a modern audio unit has been fitted. The front luggage compartment is pristine with an unused tool kit, jack, brace and electric tyre compressor. The correct factory code sticker, as duplicated in the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet, is attached the bonnet lid.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The powerful heart of this 911 Carrera is the famous air cooled, horizontally opposed rear mounted 3.6 litre 250bhp ‘boxer’ engine renown for bullet proof reliability and thrilling performance. Offering a flexible 310Nm of torque, enough to sprint to 62.5mph in 5.7seconds and a top speed of 162mph. The 5-speed manual gearbox is reassuringly solid and positive. Simply exhilarating.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory optional pressure cast light alloy ‘Cup Design’ wheels are perfect and are shod in correct 205/50 ZR17 front and 225/40 ZR17 rear Bridgestone Potenza tyres with ample tread remaining. The anti-lock braking system is allied to large internally ventilated discs that provide remarkable stopping power and also having benefited from an overhaul.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 28th April 1990 by Official Porsche Centre, Heddell & Deeks in Dorset, this vehicle has a fully traceable ownership record. Detailed notes on each owner make interesting reading with the first, Mr Duncan, buying the car for his wife who only covered 650 miles in two years due to a skiing accident and preferring her automatic Mercedes. Long-term and penultimate sixth owner of 15 years, Mr Robert Gall, bought the car in 1999 from Porsche Dealers, Paragon. The vehicle invoice reveals a purchase price of £32,995 when the car had covered 44,013 miles. Used regularly by him with 11 service entries documented until 2003 and 53,755 when business commitments put the car into careful storage. In 2014 Mr Gall entrusted Porsche Specialists, AMB of Nottingham, to completely go through the car with the intention of putting it back into recreational weekend use. The bill for this work amounts to £6,158.83 replacing all fluids, brakes, belts, tyres and service items broken down on an itemised bill. With only 54,962 miles now covered rather than extended storage and minimal use the decision was made to sell the car.
All handbooks, spare keys, remotes, invoices and MOT certificates along with hand written ownership details are included.
MOT July 2017, HPI Clear and Approved Used Car Check.
