This has come round quick! I've got my individual stand pass printed off, and I'll be heading up in convoy with an MGB GT (weather dependant!)
If anyone else is in a slow mover (65mph all the way probably) from my way, and want to ride in convoy, speak up!

Well, it wasn't as big as I expected the event to be, I think the publications were slightly misleading...

Well, it wasn't as big as I expected the event to be, I think the publications were slightly misleading... I took my eldest and youngest (15 & 5). They loved watching the cars on track, 15 year old daughter couldn't believe the noise of the F1 cars. 5 year old loved the Mk1 Focus out on the track, it was Grandad's car. Was expecting more cars but kids thought it was great.

One of the NMR cars 3 years of hard work in a single garage with just enough room to walk round and he had the body off did a full chassis/body resto followed by a dry build and then a respray - everything carried out by himself.... People walk by it and either say - "never used classic" or "cheque book resto" - neither could be further from the truth

I think it would have been nicer with more cars there. I did mean to wander round the car park as well, but forgot. The F1 car's didn't do it for me personally. They were chuffing loud though! It was good to meet John again - the driver of the Benetton F1 car - we had that car and driver as a guest at RRG14 - he's only 66 years old so I'm sure he'll get quicker with age

i didnt go in the end, with my workload at the minute i ended up tied up doing something else. ive seena lot of people grumbling about how small a show it was, and how it *may* have been made out in advance to be a lot more than it ended up as.
but, from an observers point of view, its fairly obvious why this show is quite small and seems to be struggling to make much of itself, apart from the lacklustre advertising and wierd 'in association with but nothing to do with really' statements. two other major shows are held on the same weekend, which given their geographical locations and/or prexisting status, will geographically curtail the catchment area of this show massively. putting it on this weekend goes beyond oversight to total f-kup in my eyes. i mean, do they no look at a calendar before picking a date?
its sywell pistons and props, over near northampton. a huge insurance-sponsored show with drag racing, aerobatics displays, etc. its well known and well advertised in the classic car world.
theres a show called oh so retro in kent. i think its fairly new (and i also think its organised by a member on here), but from everything appearing on my FB feed it seemed massively well supported and attended. all the london crowd obviously seem to favour a run out into kent rather than slogging up the a12, a14 and a11 into deepest darkest norfork. this show seemed to pull a much bigger crowd, and it wasnt offering racing/track action as an attraction.
hell, I'm near ipswich, and i could do either of the above in only half an hour more than going to snetterton. that means for the entireity of essex, either of the other two are probably going to be a more enticing proposition.
i find it a bit annoying because i like the idea of this show and want it to succeed, but i think they need to spend 10 minutes looking at what else is going on before trying to shoehorn it into an already overflowing show calendar, then acting surprised when turnouts are low.
