With a heavy heart we are selling Bernard our 1972 beetle.
He has a 1200cc engine which was recently given a refresh with new pushrod tubes with silicone seals, gaskets etc, the engine was then cleaned painted and put back together with stainless bolts anything that was suspect was replaced.
The gearbox rear mounts where replaced with new urethane ones I have the other one but it's a curse word to do and it's not in bad condition. The clutch is new and the gearbox works great.
The front beam has been replaced with a lowered beam camber shims/bolts and new shocks. The anti roll bar has been removed.
The rear suspension has been lowered 1 spline and has new urethane bushes.
The bodywork is a 15 footer, but was done at least 20 years ago (I think I have the receipt for it) it has some scratches and dents but with a good buff up looks pretty good as can be seen in the pictures, rust wise there a few blooms around trim holes but considering the age of the paint it's pretty damn good, it's a Mitsubishi FTO colour.
The interior is ok it needs some cleaning and fettling but is usable and has a grant metaflake steering with a proper boss and horn push. The seats are Astra gte recaros. There are some speakers in the parcel shelf wired back to the front- there is no stereo but the fittings are there so it's only a matter of putting it in the dash and plugging it in.
The under bonnet area has a fitted carpet and it clean and tidy.
The wheels are 14 inch with good tyres with good tread.
Rust wise underneath it's solid to look at it- I had one heater channel replaced and a receipt from the previous for the other being done.
It has a large file of receipts so it's has a lot of money spent on it, it has no MOT (edit- mot coming soon see below!!!) price is £3000 no swaps as I need the money please feel free to message me and ask questions but please read the ad first as I've tried to cover everything.
As a side note I've just filled him with petrol and put a battery on it and he fired straight into life straight off the key after being sat for a month!
