Built by the infamous "Potty" Potter of SBC V8 drag bike fame, no clutch, Just rev the bike and kick away the stand!!!!!! But the Austin IIRC was a pure drag car, probably the first Electric drag car too, I believe it was quick for its time, its disadvantage was the cable that was dragged up the strip behind it!!!!, interesting concept!!

Atmo V8 Power . No slicks , No gas + No bits missing . Doing it in style. Austin A35van, very different------- but still doing it in style, going to be a funmoble

Hi V8ian EJ certainly was a legend, but I thought that he laid the cables up the strip and ran pick -up shoes on the car Scalextric style?

Hi V8ian EJ certainly was a legend, but I thought that he laid the cables up the strip and ran pick -up shoes on the car Scalextric style? I don't know about that, its hard to find info on the slot car, but you could be right, but the logistics of laying a track before a run would be monstrous, A cable would indeed work, but sooner or later the weight of the cables would eventually have to be pulled by the car.... research time now..... thekneeslider.com/e-j-potter-and-the-super-slot-car/

From the advert www.boostcruising.com/car-sales/Leyland/Marina/2433907-1972-Leyland-Marina-for-Sale.html"heres a chance to own something truly unique, a morris (Leyland) marina coupe with a rover 3.5 v8. other mods include t5 5 speed,16" f90 simmons' narrowed vl commodore diff 3.23 1 ratio with polished alloy cover, vented v8 vp commodore discs all round with polished calipers, sway bars front & rear, sports steering wheel, narrowed tr magna dash with polished alloy insert, marshall gauges, steel bonnet scoop with polished alloy bonnet hinges, torana rear spoiler, zh fairlane tail lights, davies craig electric water pump & controller, remote central locking, power windows with auto windup on locking,to much to list. this car is engineered & registered in nsw. reason for selling had a kid so I bought a p76 as I needed more room, very sad sale owned this car since 2001 so hope it goes to a good home. unfortunately paint is old & starting to flake in spots, small amount of rust at bottom of rear winscreen & a small spot at left hand corner of boot lid neither spots show up properly on photos so I feel its a false representation so have not shown them really needs to be seen if concerned but neither spot look bad very minor for car of this age, this car is a lot of fun, sounds awesome & is a real head turner."

Bathurst legend Jim Richards pedalled a works Marina in the 1972 NZ International Rally (won by Andrew Cowan in a Mini 1275GT), won a couple of stages and ran in the top 10 until the gearbox broke.

The Australian Marina TC was one of the first Leyland cars to be available with optional factory alloys. Unlike it's English cousin, it came standard with a woodrim sports steering wheel, although a leather sports steering wheel was an option.

Neat. Hmm Jag rear end? I;ve owned Marina Minor Mini Sherpa Maestro Land Rover XJ6 SD1 Range Rover
SD1 was the most promising BL car in a long time, let down by some design flaws / build quality but great styling for the time and practical hatch. I do remember the car filling with dust in the boot area, something to do with the way the ventilation worked, and in the rain the glove box used to fill up with water. My other memory was the cassettes used come out like hot toast and due to the almost vertical orientation of the stereo we called it the toaster. Range Rover was really groundbreaking, engine wasn't great sadly. They would wear out at low mileages and had poor power, early ones were quite clonky . Nice examples of RRs fetching serious money now.

Been buying the issues of Street Machine that I don't have over the last few months and this issue came this week.
