Where on earth did you find that photo?!?!!? When I saw it my face was This is the car I mentioned earler that I saw years ago and wasn't sure if it was a figment of my imagination or actual fact. Now I can see that my hazy childhood memory was correct. So glad to see it again, infact I wonder where that pic was taken, and if it was the very day that I remember. This is a prime example of why I love this forum. Thanks retrolegendsNo problem pal, it popped up on the 1800 Facebook page, I can try and find out more details if you like, looks like a 2200 from the grille and the light bezels. If you could that would be great thanks, id be great if it still exists. Theres a good chance its not a technically a 2200, probably a V8, so 3500

Ive just found myself trawling through the pics on the 1800 page, and found a bigger pic of the 1800/2200/3500 I noticed that big metal frame thing in the background. 'Is it some sort of monorail track?' I thought, so I carried on looking, not expecting to find anything, but I did. You can see the yellow one on the left hand side of the pic, and you can see the monorail in the top righthand corner of the pic, if you look at the gathering of Maxis, on the back row, 3rd from the right with its bonnet up (next to the blue one) is my dads sandglow Maxi. I can tell its his because of the black sound-deadening pad on the underside of the bonnet. So yeah, I was there. Amazing. It was the 1800/2200 owners club very first national rally at Alton towers, and according to comments on other photos of the car it was the first and last time the car was seen. I cant believe that after all these years I'm actually looking at this pic.

I should have twigged with the Monorail bmcnut ,been on that loads of times as I grew up not too far from Alton Towers. That’s a great high level shot of the show field. Proper detective work there. 👍

Those wheels on that second one, why is the PCD a different one to the blank??? Zooming in it looks like they are R8 wheels plugged and redrilled to suit the PCD of whatever hubs they were trialling. We had an original Freelander and i reckon a lot of it was Honda CRV. The PCD was 114.3

I mean why bother, you may as well just put something on that fits or do it properly

Those re drilled wheels were four stud castings/forgings, but drilled for 5 studs...I think in fact it was the same PCD....but not nice!
