1996 BMW 318i Touring
I bought this car to use as a stop gap car while I fixed my regular one. I was so impressed with this that I ended up selling my other car and keeping this one, however I now need something a bit bigger than can also tow.
The car has done approx' 142,000 miles although this will go up a little as I use the car to commute to work. I was given a few receipts for work carried out over the last few years but no service history with it. Since I got it I have replaced the water pump (a common weak point on all E36's), carried out a coolant change and an oil change, replaced the rear brake discs and pads and I have bought replacement front discs and pads. If I get the time then I will replace these before the car sells, otherwise they will be included in the sale. The car has an MOT until 28th October 2017.
The car starts first time every time and runs & drives very nicely. The engine makes no funny noises and pulls well with its roaring 114hp! The clutch biting point is a little high, but it's been like this since I bought the car and hasn't got any higher.
The car comes on a set of 15's from my old 328i Coupe with a 3 month old set of Falkens fitted. Not the wheels and tyres in the pictures.
The bodywork is in good condition for the age of the car. The rear arches have a couple of small rust bubbles. The bumper corners have some small scuffs but nothing major, the N/S/R wheel arch has a minor crease (see picture), there is a small rust scab around the rear wiper (typical E36 spot) and some kind person has keyed the top of the N/S/R door and roof (see picture). Overall, for the age of the car the bodywork is pretty good in my opinion (come and make your own mind up before bidding). I have recently replaced the bonnet with a decent, dent and rust free example and fitted amber front indicators.
The interior is also in good condition. I recently fitted a half leather sport interior which is much nicer and more supportive than the original cloth. The car has electric front windows and manual rear windows. It also has an electric sunroof which I've never opened (I'm always wary of opening the sunroof on older cars in case they don't shut again, so it's up to you to decide whether to try it or not!). The heater blower works on all settings and blows hot and cold as it should. The heated rear windscreen works well too. The radio is not included in the sale and will be removed before the car is collected. The car also has remote central locking (this is an aftermarket kit but the remote is built into the key.)
