The grub screw is at 90ยบ to the shaft, on the fan blade assembly itself.
It is not easy to find the grub screw. You need to turn the fan blades around and fish with the allen key until you find the screw. You might be able to see the screw if you look in the slot with a torch and turn the blades?
I wouldn't waste your time if you don't have an imperial allen key, nothing else will work. You can buy a set for a couple of quid on the well known auction site if you don't have any.
Once you have the fan part detached, everything else is pretty straight forward.
I would recommend having the fan rewired if it still has the original rubber flex, another fan I have repaired would have been quite dangerous if this had not been changed.
