Hi all, Well i'm Nick, 26 from good ol' Lincolnshire. Lucky enough to have had plenty of nice cars over the years with plenty of nice local roads to use them on. I was a big Peugeot Man, my first car was an S1 rallye, since had about 25, Rallye's, XSi's. Although I would love another again the Japanese bug has been in full flow for a few years! I bought my first eunos last year, an 1800. Cut a long story short, the dif ratio felt like it belonged on a canal boat and I just wasn't feeling it... Fast forward 6 months and after selling the b18 engine from my Dc2 integra, I stopped off on the way home to look at a £600 1600 in some sort of green colour. Ended up with this, I got a bargain really. Panasport ultralites, 200k kilometres, 12 months test. Was a V spec however been painted some dark green/bronzy/black colour Drove all the way to portsmouth for a nice stainless exhaust Plan was to try modify it as cheap as possible - it's not completely gone out the window but....it's stating to snowball I haven't touched my DC2 since I bought this and I can see it being left for a long time until this ends up with a freely revving nicely tuned 160bhp na engine! Won a Corbeau on Ebay, had to drive to kent to colect this 'uber quality corn's exhaust'. Still need to weld the hanger back on. Over priced system I could of made myself if I still worked at Eminox - hey ho jdm tax and all that. Managed to get the seat in after I went to JB fab for a mount. Next someone kindly reversed into it... and didn't leave me a note. Found some bargain billies - quick drive to leamington spa. When jacks just don't cut it Just incase I roll the table over, I'm safe Billies were finally on. In goes the roll bar! Weight saving, should shave 30 seconds off my nurburgring lap Now I can roll over when ambition overrides talent. Ditched this horrendous piece of kit, made the corn's exhaust sound horrible! Best mod i've done (maybe slight exaggeration) - fit a standard airbox, totally transformed the note of the exhaust. More spare wheels Ditched the tan This brings it up to date - Fitted the new red wing ( i'm going to have issues paint matching ) Still waiting for one original drivers side mirror to pop up (that's not 1 million dollars) OEM front lip fitted. Picked up a Torsen LSD with kia 4.78final drive, niceeee Spoke to Saiji at Maruha motors and have a nice new speedo drive on the way over from Japan - So my missis doesn't think i'm doing 100mph everywhere I go. Lastly, after a quick trip Worcestershire last night, got myself a lovely Tanabe Manifold.

was sick of waiting for my Decat to arrive ready to fit the manifold, so I started stripping it down ready for when it eventually does get here, hopefully plated with gold and with a highly trained technician ready to fit it Although it's given me a chance to do a few little job's i've been meaning to do for a while anyway. Heatshield was a canoe to get off, had to chisel one of the bolts off, Anyway it's out. Sat the new manifold in to make sure it's a go-er... and it is, so hurrah! I took the lambda sensor to work last night and repaired/extended that, also welded the hanger back onto the corn's exhaust. Found another little pin hole on one of the others hangers were it's been welded on and someone has blown through a bit, factory weld. Really is a strange old system, back box is beautifully made whilst the rest looks tosh nailed to me. Certainly wouldn't bother buying another one. Hopefully my Decat pipe will be here this week the little rascal, I can't wait to hear how deafening it's going to be when it's back together 17 all over again spitting flames like a rudeboy. Decided to paint the wheels whilst the car is up on stands too. Had the two cans left over from the incorrect match from my roof, so seemed logical! Colour is Ligier 20nm noir. I'm not a fan of black wheels but this is almost a dark anthracite colour with a little flek to it. Should look nice when they are lacquered up and polished. Few shots below after the base coat went on, waiting for the lacquer to dry as I type this. This gave me a headache for ten minutes, little blighter! Out... New manifold fits nicely. Basecoat on the wheels Managed to get my roof painted, finally! Had a nightmare having the colour matched, I suspected it had been painted a custom colour in Japan and it's looking that way. Closest colour match ended up showing as Ligier Noir (black!) Which it certainly isn't, so £30 down on buying two of those! Ended up going for the second best match which was a Hyundai Emerald. It's near enough and the closest i'm going to get! I was quoted well over £200 at every body shop in my local town, so thought canoe it, i'll paint it myself, i've had most of my previous paintwork done by a friend @ the Spraybay in Immingham, but with my vinyl roof not having a rear window, I needed my hardtop turning around ASAP! I ended up painting it in my living room whilst the missis was at work Pretty chuffed with how it turned out, to say it was prepped, primered, painted and lacquered all in the space of about 5 hours. I flatted it back yesterday with 1500,2000 finishing on 2500. Could still do with a bit more flatting but hey, it will do for now. Just need to put the little piece of plastic trim back on what goes around the lip of the roof. So in all it cost me £80 (included buying 2 cans of the wrong paint!) Ready to go Repaired the damage from when I tried to ram it into my 406 estate boot! scotched up spray booth Primed No photo's of basecoat going on, was too busy cleaning the laminate floor inbetween the two coats Let it dry overnight then flatted yesterday. Mid flatting Finished result. With rattle cans, proof you can paint stuff yourself!

Personally, I like the wheels and a nice job on the roof as well. More to the point, it's good to see someone who doesn't think that England is bigger than continental America!

I had a nightmare getting the paint matched up for the roof and it isn't a perfect match, With it being the roof it isn't so noticable, with the wing i'm not so sure. My other half has designed this, Which i'm going to draw up and paint on the red wing. The car is actually a bit tatty, If i ever get around to sorting the sill's then I'll have it all blown over, Until then.. Personally, I like the wheels and a nice job on the roof as well. More to the point, it's good to see someone who doesn't think that England is bigger than continental America! I've covered literally thousands of miles picking parts up for this. Seat, Kent and back; 300 miles? Exhaust, Portsmouth; 400 miles? Torsen LSD, South wales; 500 miles? Roof, Norfolk; 250 miles? Plus a few places closer to home! It's part of the fun for me. Also helped me rack up the magical 200K miles in my peugeot 406 bus - the parts fridge!

I thought I recognised the background of your pics, I spent many a weekend at my grandparents house a few doors from the top of your street in the early naughties. Small world we live in 😀

I'm from Blyton originally but somehow ended up drifting into Gainsborough! Are you local then? If you go to Jawel paints they will match your paint up perfectly and even stick it in a rattle can if you like. www.jawel.co.uk/I Got the last lot of paint from Fishers motor factors. They use the fancy machine to match the paint, I assume Jawel use the the same method? I'm pretty certain this is a 100% custom colour someone has literally mixed up themselves. I will give them a try though thanks. Would love to get an exact match, with the bronzey tint included. As it's a stunning colour, would love to paint it this colour again.

The colour was Leyland 19, but off for some odd reason (it was *white* for a Stag if you know what I mean; I almost thought it was Diamond White TBH!) They made Leyland 19 and then tinted it to the colour of the car. The match was spot on though and the can I got later off the same tint was spot on for the smaller areas. I couldn't use that can in some parts though in side ; it was then too white! Good to see another person in the MX-5 club. Do you know if your Lambda works after it was extended? Mine runs fine without it (it's a single wire lambda on mine) but I do know it will not pass another MOT (it's on 5% CO when the limit is 3.5%), but it does have a Lamdba code up on the ECU (Google MX-5 NA Code reader; it's basically a 12V LED and some wire to short two terminals). Whether my Lamdbda isn't working due to the wiring being extended (I also have an aftermarket manifold) or the newish sensor being duff (it's a universal one) I do not know.

good job on the hardtop ,i love the look of them with a hardtop on mine has been off since April but i always look forward to later in the year when it goes back on again. Panasports looks great fill the arches just nicely.

That's bloody typical - I've been to Leamington Spa and back 2/3 times to collect various parts for the car over the past few months (I found a chap breaking a red eunos) So could of popped in whilst I was down there! I'm not overly fussed about the match on the car at the moment, it's never going to be a show and shine, but like I mentioned. If someone could match this colour, with the correct bronze tint then I would love to get a few Litres saved for future reference! I really wouldn't know what other colour to paint it. I've been toying with the idea of Nissan midnight purple or the BMW dark purple what the older e36 M3's come in. Don't want to follow the crowd and have it blown over a boring colour i'd like something unique. I'd love to do some sort of period style race replica but I've had a scout on tinternet and I can't find many photo's of old skool eunos race cars. As for the Lambda - I have no idea yet (see below update!) I've not managed to get the exhaust system back together. But I can't see why it won't work. It had been repaired in the past before I got my hands on it. I've not had the car MOT'd under my ownership but it passed the last MOT fine (still had the factory cat) Although it is dreadful on fuel, but i'm pretty sure they are all the same. My car has never thrown on any engine management lights. Not checked the code. I'll have a look at that on my next 4 off, Never knew you was able to test it like that. This is where i'm at with the exhaust... After waiting 3 weeks for my 440mm Mongoose Decat to arrive, As expected... It was that far off - I couldn't even weigh up which way around it was meant to go. So inevitably, this happened. Money well spent It's time's like this I curse not working for Eminox anymore - Could of made one myself to start off with! Luckily my old dear is still the receptionist there so I can get my mitts on some 2" tube to slot in the middle. Going to have to mock it all up and pray that a straight piece of tube will actually slot into the middle, without any kinks or bends. toying with the idea of having the extention piece made up so it's slotted at either end, Swaged up to 2" ID then just clamp it all together. If not i'll just weld it in place, Probably a better idea in the long run, but I only have access to the mild steel welder at work and my little hobby set wouldn't really do a neat job. Flanges mated up perfectly too. that'll do Did manage to make some new gaskets up at work. Hopefully Will get it sorted for next week. Ideally i'd like to sack the current system off and have a full custom system made from the manifold back. It's a 1991 so shouldn't need a cat to pass the MOT test anyway. I took the Torsen Dif to work the other day, stripped the casing off just to double check it's all in good shape, And to make sure I hadn't been diddled, It does have the kia sportage ring and pinion so happy days! Here's to super short gearing It was a busy night shift... US market Kia 4.78 final drive. Back together. Hoping to get the dif on before summer is out.

My rear window split all the way across on my soft top so rather than muck around changing that over I just bought the hardtop! I love the Panasports, they came on the car so very lucky! They're marked up 'for race purpose only' super super lightweight wheels. They are actually the same J as the standard eunos wheel, 5.5, however they fill the arch much much better, must be down to the much lower offset. I have no idea what it is, If I remember i'll measure one up before I have new tyres fitted. What a transformation so far. Love the Red Baron graffix. Thanks mate, I was really impressed with the drawing she came up with, just need to find some proper pens so I can get it transferred onto my wing. Thinking of lacquering over it once it's on there so it won't rub off !

I won this Gab brace on eBay the other week, got that fitted. Bit of old skool jdm! Ok, so it's more show, no go, but it all adds to the look! This is the Lambda once extended. Wrapped in some conduit. And the bus what makes it all happen, Best car i've ever had. £400 well spent.

The strange thing is my MPG is OK. It's doing around 30-33MPG for now, but I have once seen 37 out of it on a motorway trip. I am running a decat however.
There's no check engine light on a Mk1, or at least there isn't on the UK cars. I know there's not one on mine.

My ODO still reads in KM's, all I take note on is that £10 unleaded will see me through 100km's, so 60 miles. And that is pushing it.

That's not too bad TBH and around the same as mine . Mine will do around 215 miles to around £37 so it is roughly the same. I have attempted to be gentle but it is a bit of a rarity!

True - The 406 HDi spoils me, easily see 100 miles to £10 in that old bus! In all fairness I haven't used this much since I refitted the stock airbox - It has ran MUCH nicer since so MPG probably improved a little. All to change once the 4.7 FD goes in. Good job it's only a back road blaster and not a daily! I have found out that it doesn't really matter how hard/steady you drive them the MPG pretty much stays the same I'm a sucker for living on the red light though (which these don't even have) I should stick a full tank in the old girl and top up once it gets down to half! Save me a fortune on fuel filter changes every couple of months
