Hi all,
I have decided to sell my near showroom condition BMW E34 535i Sport, inline 6 with manual gearbox and black leather with m sport steering wheel and gear knob.
V5 confirms this is a genuine 535i sport with only 4 previous owners.
As you can see from the photos the car is in near showroom condition and is quite simply a time warp vehicle. The body is in superb condition, as is the interior and at it last MoT, the tester couldn't believe how good the car was for an restored, all original 1991 BMW!
The car is completely standard apart form the 17" wheels and the stereo head unit
Engine has a murmur at low revs/idle but starts on the button and has several new parts to begin its recommission.
Dizzy cap Rotor arm Fuel filter Sparks Battery 6 X new Bosch injectors New front brake flexi's
MOT until 20th March 2017
The car is currently on 197k miles but I can honestly say it looks like it has barely seen a road let alone that many miles. The car had the same owner almost all of it life and has been garaged/storage I would guess since new.
There is an A4 folder of history, all the original handbooks in there BMW wallet and service history stamped until 192550 miles!
These cars are very rare and are basically an M5 with a standard 3.5L engine and will be extremely collectable as the last of the real BMW's.
Only selling due to buying another Alfa 164 V6, a car that has a special place to me and hence the BMW is up for sale.
I could keep her garage and rising in value but that just isn't fair on such an amazing condition modern classic
Car is near Peterborough.

Nice car!
What do you mean by engine murmur at idle exactly? Any professional diagnosis on that one?
Any idea what the oil pressure is showing at hot idle?
Thanks!

By any chance did you get this car over near Bristol or Cheshire back in 2011? Middle aged chap living in a nice area on a steep hill with a big garage at the front of his house?
This one reads exactly like the car I went to see back then and I might know something about your murmur at idle.

Hi all,
I have checked the engine compression on all cylinders and got a very surprising 180 across all 6 bores, the murmur is not a missing fire and clears when the revs rise. I have played about with recommissioning her but to honest I MoT'd it, replaced a load of parts but ended up buying an Alfa 164 from the same year and I am not a BMW fan, it looks amazing (hence why it has stayed with me) but BMW's are just not my thing, that's my brother department! Madness when you look at the condition!!!
The car really is unbelievable condition.
Hi Hogie,
I didn't get the car from that gentleman myself but that sounds like the chap and the description of a large garage on a hill matches the photos I have seen n the history. The guy had it for most of its life. I would be interested in any info you have? The car was obviously very well looked after.
Cheers

Hi all,
After some investigation work and with the help of Hoggie, I can confirm the misfire is as a result of what would appear to be a poor head gasket repair during the previous owners time with the car.
I have again conducted a compression test and the cylinders register an equal 180 cold across all 6. There is a receipt for the headmaster repair and the issue was a gasket blowing across cylinder 6.
The car is MoT'd, start first time everytime, never over heats, drive well except for the misfire/murmur (it really isn't like a missfire) and there is no rattles etc.
All the new parts are fitted and she just needs a BMW fan to spend some time on this rare E34 looking into the issue caused by the poor repair, I simply don't have the time or inclination and as I said above, I simply am not a BMW fan.
The car really is superb and would be a easy project to be a perfect genuine E34 535i sport which has not been ruined and only going up in value.

Hi Andy,
I really do think this is a great day and buy, if you are a German car fan you really would be amazed by this car, it's even got all of its original covers and clips in the engine bay.
Spend a little time checking the head gasket repair and you will have a genuine 535i manual sport, they are mega rare, it really is a time warp, even the MoT guys couldn't believe how good it was underneath.
I have started a new business, have two Alfas and a car I use for work, so I just don't have time to spend on her and she deserve that last 5% and loving owner.
With values rising on these rare cars, you simply can't go wrong.

The price is £2,500 ono not the original £5,000 I know. The other £2500 is to fix it and run it. Such a good colour and spec. Will have a ponder thanks.

Hi All My brother put this advert up and we didn't sell the car. I was going to keep it but now decided it needs to go to someone who will appreciate it. I have it now in Dartford and it needs to go really. As the advert, it is a very clean 535i with the MOT to 20th March 2017 I have had the car running fine, the engine pulls as it should and revs very smoothly. It is a bit lumpy on tick over, but they are known for this: www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Trouble/Hunting_idle.htmThere was a suggestion that the murmur on tick over was a poor head gasket repair, but I don't believe that. It revs too smoothly and its only tick over it isn't smooth, but the web page above confirms the 535i's didn't tick over well! Plus it has good compression on the cylinders. The one thing it does need is to replace or refurbish the steering box. There is a play in the steering and when tightened up, it doesn't centre too well. You can get this refurbished for about £175. There is a A4 Lever arch file full of history and the service book stamped up to 185,367 miles. So up for £2,500 A bargain for a really clean 535i Sport, manual, LSD, leather interior and full history! Don't let the mileage put you off. Thanks Dave 07885 273 776 dmoynes1969@hotmail.com
