Ok Third and final thread- until I purchase an e21 to fill in the model gap! Brought this e36 6 months ago, as it looked sad in a mates garden- unloved during his 3rd ownership of the car, after selling it to a mate for a couple years, buying it back, swapping it for a van and swapping it back. So its now a 9 owner car (with him a 3 of them, and 2 mates as other owners), with 113k on the clock which is not bad. This is my 7th e36, 3rd 328 cabby, having had a 318is as my second car many years ago when I was 17 and the car K-reg was only 6 years old, I really have a soft spot for these and they are becoming rare in 328 manual form. Since purchasing the car I have completed the following: Covered a massive 1k miles! New alternator, mot and various bits, M Rubbing strips, M Rear Lights, Clear Sides, Hard-top, Genuine Staggered M Wheels (its had 3 sets in-between), and removed the full auto roof mechanism and converted to full manual using a donor car purchased for £300 quid as the parts from BMW came in at £1100!!. I also had some rust removed/ rear quarter spayed. Not a massive project really as have other two eaten/ eating my money, however next on the agenda is a bit more paint, new decent tyres, replacement rear seat base as its a bit rough (black leather and sun don't like each other) mopping and lowering as the front is sky high for some reason. Pic's below of how she was when first purchased, and how she sits now.

That's lovely mate, I keep keeping my eye out for a cheap one but never the right one at the right time sadly.

Cheers, they seem to be "drifted and wrecked" or up for silly money now- £4k some people are asking. I'm looking for a touring, but I'm fussy so needs to be a 2.8 in black- I'm having no luck as you'd imagine!

Looks like a clean one, I've got mine because it's the car I wanted when I started driving. Might even use it one day!

Cheers, its not mint as was a bit neglected by my mates who owned it before but its not too bad now, still a few bits to do but important areas are rust free. Assume you still have yours, had a peek at your threads as saw it was up for sale? Similar taste, I had a MK3 Golf GTI for a bit too:

I know what you mean, I'm holding out for one with bad paint so I can paint it white but not having much luck

Sounds like we do, I like mk3 golfs even though most slate them for not being a mk2. Don't think I will ever sell the 328, don't know if I will ever get around to fixing it either,I have leverage to keep it as SWMBO has two cars as well!

Do you get much water ingress with the hardtop on your e36? Looks like a good example that 👍🏽

None- bit if water creeps in at front leading edge when I go through car wash/ use jet wash but that's it. Its solid and rust free, needs pads and lowering then all good.

I have a really annoying rattle coming from the roof storage area I think?? All cables adjusted so torneau cover sits tight, padded tape added over any metal on metal bits but still occurring, any ideas anyone?

Ok- After spending an afternoon going insane looking for the rattle and tapping, removing, tightening various bits and pieces, I have narrowed it down to the offside rear damper- so new dampers on the cards for next fri

I've been looking for a cabrio for a few weeks now, and although I'd like something like an MX5, having two small children has seen the search directed at an E36 very much like yours. As it's only going to do limited mileage a 328 fits the bill nicely and if I don't get one soon I fear they will slip out of my budget as good ones are on the up.

Cheers for the above comments. Nearly sold this a couple months ago- was offered £2.5k but thought once I sale it I'll want one again and it will cost me a lot more to get one like this in a couple of years. Think I'll just keep this one for good now I've done a manual roof and have a hard top
