I know it was controversial within the rod community but I liked the original concept of DMC. At the time it was done, Chevettes were dirt cheap and easy to find, so why not show how to modify one for nt much cash. It's just a shame they spent a couple of grand on a paint job (or would have done if the publishers hadn't done a deal with their advertisers I assume). I actually like the design of the paint and graphics (and I'm thinking now of a whole other thread on what happened to imaginative paint jobs) it just wasn't appropriate for a dole money cruiser.

Can I ask why it was controversial? Was it just the cost of the paintjob?

Can I ask why it was controversial? Was it just the cost of the paintjob? Street Machine being a rod and custom mag, a Chevette wasn't really seemed appropriate base material for a magazine project, especially in the style they went for.
