heres a choice, place them in order of preference circuit racing (semsec etc) drag racing hillclimbing autotest would you do them in your car? or build a special? which do you dream of doing? is there something else i havent added which is your idea of fun? me - I'm building up my fastback to be an all-rounder of racing, bit of circuit, a hillclimber, and a touch of drag racing ...seems like the most fun to me

Ive done a few gkmhanas and I love them. Can basically do anything you want and be relatively confident your not gonna damage anything. Everything happens at slow speeds but it don't feel like it from inside.
Drag racing ive done a couple of times and will again in the future but to me its not that exciting.
I havnt done circuit racing or hillcliming but both sound like fun, will be trying to get into that in the future

I'm hopefully going to have a go at hillclimbing next summer - been watching vscc etc at prescott and shelsley for years. theres only minimal costs to get your car ready and as a starter motorsport the appeal for me is that youre racing against the clock and your own personal bests so even if youre not very good you can have the satisfaction of beating your own times rather than having to languish two laps down at the back of the field looking silly.

TBH I reckon I'm too much of a jessie tart for most of those disciplines - I wouldn't rate my driving skills as nearly good enought to take part in anything right now. I'll probably have a bit of a bash on the strip in the Beemer after Christmas, more out of curiosity as to what the car will do (provided I can get good "launches") than anything else. I wouldn't mind taking it on a trackday too - place your bets on just how quickly I go flying backwards into the gravel.... ;D A couple of years back I did one of those rallying "days" which was top notch - 300bhp cossies on gravel, and 100+++ mph in an Evo around a tight tarmac section. However most of the other guys there were wealthy types who had their own Impreza's to practice in beforehand, so I was one of the slowest drivers there....

Hillclimbing appeals to me most out of that lot, and a well tuned Imp can do well there, it could clean up in autotests I dare say too, since Imp do handling a lot better than they do straight line performance, which is probably why you won't see loads of drag racing Imps!

Ive been tempted by sprints and hillclimbs in the past.
Harewood Speedclimb in N Yorkshire run trial days for road cars so you can learn more about it.

I wouldent mind having ago at a few auto tests in the Nymph when it finished. Great all round visibility would be a bonus.
I did some work on it after work today. So now its a little bit closer to being finished.
Does any one know where I can get Imperial nuts and bolts from as supplies tend to be metric now.

I like the idea of drag racing and intend to do it next year (on a casual basis) Track-days and circuit racing really get me interested, especially classic stuff, but I don't like the idea of racing against folk with money to burn Hillclimbing would be great although I've never really watched it or taken much interest in it before. If it's cheap and fast I'll be up for it!! ;D

i cut my teeth in roundy roundy racing mini stocks and banger's but i do like the drag racing it can be boring but its what you make it realy if you just see it as driving up the quarter at speed then your not going to find it much more interesting than that . but if you get down to the judging the lights getting the launch just right getting the shift points right and bettering your last time then it can be one of the most exciting forms of racing about it already features the fastest accelerating vehicles on the planet and your running on the same surface under the same conditions as those cars its great fun and i'm hooked however i will be doing some other forms of motorsport with the van as thats being built to handle

Auto test are driving round road cones and reversing in and out of "garages" which are set out with the cones. Its one car at a time against the clock. I prefer Slaloms (or Solo 1) same as Autotest, except... [glow=red,2,300]"Reverse? We don need no stinkin' reverse!" [/glow] And pro rally. Never competed but used to be involved in the organizing and Marshalling.
