Ahh the weekend, is spent m8st of Saturday morning cleaning off more underseal and found a few patches of surface rust underneath one thing id noticed was some surface rust under the body lifting points used in the factory and there is no way I'm spending all this time and leaving any grot I'm aware of. And shortly after this Turned into that Which is fun as its where the inner arch, bulkhead and floor pan meet up. So i patched up what i could, but i have no idea how to bend up a repair panel for the inner arch, so that will have to wait till i can have some assistance. I'm not sure if the wealder was having a bad day or me or just sh1t metal, but my welds looked like curse word. But never mind as nearly all the underseal is off an i can almost see paint on the horizon. Dan

Ive been out a couple of times in the last week and tryed to get on, suddenly most of my welds looked like sh1t and i never seemd to get anywhere much, this morning i got home from work and was determined to get stuff done. So those of us who watch project binky know the score. Identify grot Remove grot Get busy with the CAD modeling Transfer to steel Hot melt metal glue in to place Beat the welds down with a grinder and a flappy wheel Rince and repeat Theres a couple more patches on the rear valance and probably a couple under the factory body lifting points on the other side and hopefully that will be the last of the grot seeking. I scraped off some more underseal be for calling it a day. Ive got a few hours on it again tomorrow befor i go to work.I'm still on track for my second finish date. Dan

Ive not posted for a couple of weeks as i had to get my other car ready for a weekend away, (MOT, fail MOT fix handbrake, pass MOT, pull out engine helicoil lose bolt in engine front plate to stop oil leak which it didnt and replace a leaking core plug, only to have anothere fail on the way home......) but mainly because pics of dissappearing under seal and tiny bits of rust are bloody boreing. So Have one with a primered underside. YAY........ dances a little jig. It feels like its taken far more than 2 years to get this far, but at last its starting to go back together. Theres still a little welding to do 2 small repairs to the boot seal lip and a really tricky one for the roof, oh and the front valance needs to be fabracobbled but the fixing the body shell is nearly over........... Looking very good and a real milestone. Did you or are you going apply some seam sealer to the seams?

Yes a mile stone indeed, a large amount of seam sealer will be required.ive got some bilthamber goop in a tin but its a right royal pain to apply, i may go looking for some tiger seal in a goo gun tube. Dan

The whole car weighs in around the 800kg mark so its not exactly heavy, it takes 2 of us to flip it but one recent ebay purchase has made it much easier The palet truck has made turning the shell around a doddle, it took about half an hour to fit the rear suspension drop the car, jack it up roll it accros infront of the door pull it out side rotate and reinstall it. This also gave us the opportunity to work out the final fitting for the rear anti roll bar and by jove it not only fits but misses everything. Just have to work out what to use to attach it to the trailing arms. Dan

Had a busy couple of days fist making the underside look like a storm trouper. Then finally getting some body colour on.... Unfortunately after making a reasonable job of the underside i thort id paint the bonnett wrll that didnt go well with more runs than a day at lords. I think i need more practice setting the gun up. More exciting progress, looks suitably amazing after all the work. Spotted this Period Honda Ballade art by Syd Mead on a Prelude site to share. hondapreludemk1.com/

My neabour Graham has been very helpfull flatting down panels when hes had time as ive been pretty busy at work. Monday evening i managed a couple of hours on frank, touched up some bits id missed in the paint, Tuesday i spent clearing out the garage, i found the bag of underseal i had collected and it weighed in at 5.2 kg, also the tray of bits we cut out (well most of them) Then ups delived a new picnic table for the boot lid, i found it in the classified section on this very forum, thanks smile83 a well wrapped parcel. Its actually a mk2 escort group 4 spolier but i recon with a bit of trimming it will suit the back of the acclaim nicley seeing as original rubber ones are made of unobtainium and must weight quite a bit this is light as a feather. Once i got frank back off his side, i hoovered out and cleaned up the interior and wire brushed the engine bay before my second attempt at spray painting, this time i set the gun up slightly diffrent and didnt hose the paint on, its alittle bit thin in places but looks ok hopefully ill get a second coat on Saturday. Tomorrow ill prep the rest of the shell and maybe the doors and boot lid if ive got time,

I promise ive not been holding out intentionally ive just been working so hard on frank ive not had the time to take many photos and when ive come in ive ether got to go to work or I'm too knackered and its shower and bed. So there was one piece of franks shell left to deal with and it was beyond my skills to sort it so luckily barry was free for an afternoon and put franks front valance back together. Which i then gave sevral coats of filler to and painted and forgot to take any pics of Next i started a load of cleaning, media blasting and painting I painted the back doors, and my phone refused to focus when i tryed to take a pic. I also painted various brackets and a load of bolt heads which i also didnt take any pics of. I spent the best part of 3 hours cleaning degreasing and then blasting the rear suspension arms only to find this lurking and a couple of other patches not much better It was about this point i found out a good friend had passed on, raider was a very active member of club triumph and organised the border raiders run that is the reson I was working so hard to finishing frank for. now the last time i saw raider our parting words were "Ill have frank finished for the event" to which he replied he was looking forward to seeing it. So in honour of raider ive bought the mot forward to the day before his funeral and ill pull out every stop to get frank there. heres the list of jobs ive done and not taken any pics of Wiring loom Brake lines Tail lights Engine installed Heater box wiper mechanism I did however get a pic of the built up and installed front suspension and big brake set up then i fitted a new front arb with eye wateringley expensive poly bushes and didn't take any pics. The for the first time in 2 years frank sat on his own 4 wheels. Wings were put on to check the lows. That brings us bang up to date. Dan
