We it pains me to have to come to this decision, but i am having to sell my Carlton GSi due to life challenges. The car is a face lift 24V auto with half leather seats and in Diamond black paint, it is a 24 year old car and not perfect. It does however fly like wind and handles awesomely. I have recently replaced the oil in the LSD,and it has transformed that soo much, the oil was expensive for the correct stuff ! It happily reaches motorway speeds without effort and the sport button assists this. It also has the snow button to help in the slippery stuff in the winter. It has the Carlton diplomat wheels fitted , i preferred these, but i do have a set of omega 16" 5 spokes with good tyres to go with it as well. Its MOTd until the end of August, oh and it is exempt from having cats fitted,so i have removed these from the system. I have a a load of spares for it ,some are "just in case" some are for renovation or as an exchange item. The list of spares are as follows. 2 pairs of headlights with spots One car wiring loom Front grille Set of ecus (no engine one though) Steering wheel centre Prop coupling Heater matrix Steering box Drag links Abs block Ns drop arm Pair cats 2 pairs of rear calipers needing overhaul Rear drive shafts Brake servo and master cyl Pair wing mirrors Assortment of interior switches Height sensor for air suspension Charcoal canister Washer bottle Pair headlights no spot Interior mirror Front fog light Pair rear lights standard Pair rear lights smoked Pair of steering colom switches Cruise control motor 2 spare trip computers + wiring Digi dash Normal dash Window regulator set Rear arch repair panels Sill repair panels Rear quarter light glass set Dash panel Pair rear head rests EDIT : This will now include a spare 24V engine complete with downpipe,o2 sensor, ecu and duel ram set up. The bottom end needs a rebuild as it was losing oil pressure when hot , the shells are worn and it could do with a crank regrind. The bad bits are that it needs a NSF strut, body rust (see pictures), cruise control doesnt work the ecu needs repairing however i have instructions and parts list to fix this. There is an intermittent starting issue that i have traced to oil ingress to a wiring block, an occasional squirt of brake cleaner sorts this. It does have a new battery, new screen, and new starter motor. Here are a few pictures, i will add some more when i have cleaned it better. First the bad bits. Now some better ones

well, considering the amount of spares i have collected for it that are becoming more and more difficult to find, i think that its a fair price. You will notice it is "ono" so if anyone wants to make me an offer i am happy to consider it though.

£3000 for that? I don't get the car world ... I want the Morris Marina and it's nearly half the price of this car, and if I dare say so, much better looking (most people find the 70s cars quite cute looking).
That just looks ... old ... not classic. There is quite serious rusting there which would put me off a Marina, for example. Anyway, good luck in selling it.

Considering there are only 50 of these left on the road (as of last year), and are considered an iconic car of their day, not to mention all of the now rare spares i have collected, i feel that to ask the price, being an "or near offer" is a reasonable price. I have been honest in showing the not too pretty rust, sorry that it is not in pristine condition, but a car that has been, and still is in daily use for 25 years, i think its fared reasonably well. Oh if you find a marina that can do 150mph in standard trim, i would love to have a drive in it I also don't get the car world at times, i have owned a dozen minis, and the tat that is being passed off at silly prices these days is amazing, but that is just part and parcel of the car world that we all love to be in.

Sorry mate but that car is only fit for scrap, what with the visible rusty areas if that were involved in a smash it would just crumple up. That needs more than welding, it needs a shell. Having had one I know what they're like UNDER the rusty bits. GLWS though. ?

You are clearly a force to be reckoned with in your indepth analysis of a car that you have not seen in the flesh. May all your comments on RR be of such high quality.

I've seen cars far worse than this still on the road (I've owned a few). I don't see how anyone would think the carlton is fit for scrap or a reshell, they must have seen different pics than I did. Any of the rusted areas you've shown are pretty straight forward repairs.

Well it was fine when I owned and drove it. It was fine while it was in the storage hedge and Dave has kept it on the road since.
GLWTS of what is an increasingly rare car if people are just scrapping roadworthy ones.

An honest ad, with photos of the bad bits. It all seems pretty reasonable to me.
As has always been the case on RR: If you think something is too expensive - Don't buy it.
Negativity is not welcome here. Don't like it? Feel like your right to free speech has been taken away? Go somewhere else.
If you start your first post with the letter 'U' where normal people would write 'You', you've already broken an RR rule, if the rest of the post is derogatory and your second post is the same, RR isn't for you. Bye.

I love these cars, always stood out from the norm when you rarely get to see one. Don't listen to that helmet saying its "only fit for scrap"; looks like a very honest ad and thats what people want when looking at a car.
A rare car, with a shed load of rare parts, £2k is a good asking price, plus you're willing to listen to offers, good luck with the sale mate.
