Saxo is gone, well going to a chap in work needing cheap wheels for work, so what does a guy do who's just sold a car he didn't really need... goes and buys another one I've wanted one of these for a while, I had one 10 years ago that never saw the road due to first child coming along and regretted selling it. This will be my 15th Vectra B, a 2.0 SuperTouring, wants work, sills and arches mainly, but this is going to be going back to standard with some Irmscher touches. Getting delivered tomorrow. Already got 4 brand new tyres to fit, a prefacelift GSi interior as the seats on it came from a facelift SRi and I hate them, and a standard exhaust as ice gifted the Powerflow one on it to my mate, its too loud for me. He's also arranged recovery so only right. Can't wait to get stuck in again First job, remove the horrible painted mudflaps, new plates and get rid of the stickers on the boot lid.
Well it's home... trailered due to a burst brake line, seller was a bit dishonest and swapped out the battery for a completely curse word one so wouldn't even put dash lights on, but never mind. Like a pig in curse word atm
Cheers Dan, ordered plates for it this morning, it's goin in Friday to have the brakes and tyres done so it can be moved around easier, hoping to get it in for MOT this month so I can use it for a bit before having the bodywork sorted over winter
Given it a quick touch up and polish so it didn't look so barn find, going the garage tomoro for the brakes and tyres, then hopefully next month back again for some mot work. Mudflaps ripped off as well for good measure.
Car went to garage this morning, on a flat bed. Now has the horrible brake pipe that goes over the tank replaced, has brakes, and tyres without eggs or perishing on them. Little boy saw it fir the first time and gave his approval as well. While I was there my mate dropped off the parts stash, this included a full Recaro interior in dire need of a clean, a standard exhaust for this car, some headlight looms to return to the original 2 piece headlights, and also found an Irmscher grill. Stashed the interior away for now as interior will be coming out for the horror that is the sills and inner wheel arches.
Cleaned up and painted the exhaust while I have nothing to do, Old one is off and on its way to my friend, this will get fitted Monday now.
Got the car back today, managed to have a drive of it as well, goes really well, better than any of the 2.0 I've had before, so need to see what's been done, maybe a set of cams in there. Brakes are working now, but still want new pads and discs. Exhaust has been changed for a standard centre with a DD backbox that woukd have been standard fitment, but thanks to a sports cat I didn't know it had there's still a nice burble there. Gay sticker removed off boot, and a good wash since it got covered in oily handprints. Oh and sat on 4 new tyres. Oh and gay blue interior LEDs sacked off for proper filament bulbs. So I can see now
Astra got new wheels as well, swapped the carbon 17s for them to resell but tried them on first, too hot to swap back.
